What's your approach to posting TNs here?

On this board, there are certain regions and types of wines that are likely to generate interest when you post TNs (Burg, Rhys, Cabot, Loire cab franc, Giacosa, etc.), and others that are likely to generate interest if you post very negative TNs (“Kosta Browne is a hot stewed mess!!” “This Pavie tasted like Aussie Shiraz!!”), and then a huge expanse of other producers, grapes and regions that will probably generate little or no interest.

Tom Hill (I think) frequently posts notes about wines in that no-man’s land, but maybe he’s the exception that proves your rule.

Yup, Ryan…that’s one aspect of my wine passion. I love to try wines from off-beat regions, varieties, winemakers. And share those
impressions. When I see a Teroldego from FingerLakes…I can’t resist the urge to try that sucker.

For those of you that have said they post but don’t get any comments, rest assured I do read every note here and appreciate all of them.

I guess that is a point taken. I stopped because no one responded to something like 9 of my last 10 TN’s. Didn’t see the point if no one was interested. I’ve just been using CT to keep short notes for myself lately.

I’ll keep posting notes here, as I know that people do read them, although in the majority of cases, there aren’t replies to my TN posts, which is OK. I do see with the new feature in CT that comments over there may become a possible avenue as some who may not be on this board are on Eric’s site and that increases the interaction with the notes, too.

Tom - I’m totally with you on that fascination with something other than more Cab or Pinot. I can’t help it actually. Sagrantino from Hungary? Hell yes.

I like the other stuff too of course, but it’s like Mae West said - pick the one you haven’t tried before.

Charlie - thanks! Who knew someone would find it useful? One problem is that I do what Bill did when reading a note. It’s just second nature to look at writing and make mental notes on the inconsistencies and off-kilter language. I don’t read notes for the information so much as I do for the prose. I guess that’s ass-backwards but we all have our idiosyncracies. We’ll see what’s on deck tonight.

I do wish however, that the world had more English teachers like Bill!

Thanks documenting your passion here - the community is richer for it.

As for me, I don’t post tasting notes because I rarely take them. But I do have a vague goal to write more in the new year just to see if I get more from wine that way.
