What's the most dominant red grape variety in your cellar?

Lumping Bordeaux blends in with Cabs gives:

Nebbiolo 30%
Cabernet 18%
Syrah 11%
Petite Sirah 9%
Zin 4%
Grenache 4%
Aglianico 3% and rising

So I’m the ONLY one who voted “other”?

Why is that a question? There is only one vote for “other”. If you made it, you are the only one. [shrug.gif]

Pinot is nearly 92% for me. A little Graves. A little Cote Rotie. A little CA syrah. Less than one case of Italian. Although I used to have a lot of each of these other wines.

Hmmmm, decisions decisions.

Keeding Roberto. neener

Grenache here followed by a close neck and neck between Cab & Syrah.

60% Pinot/Burg
15% Cab/Left Bank
8% US Syrah (surprisingly no Northern Rhones - What’s up with that?)
8% Grenache/Southern Rhone/Languedoc
3% US Chardonnay
The remaining 6% consists of a little bit of everything else.

It would be cool if CellarTracker could trend this for you…would be interesting to see how the collection has changed shape over time.

NONE is a legitimate answer. I’ve got so much variety, none is dominant.

Nebbiolo

That’s true. Luckily, I’m not a wine geek. I have one bottle of red Burgundy, one bottle of English pinot noir, four bottles of Hungarian pinot noir, two bottles of CA pinot noir from McNichols, and a bottle of Pat Green pinot noir.

Cripes!! What am I doing with all that pinot noir in the house! [wow.gif]
[cheers.gif] Sangria time this weekend.

Pinot Noir (and BdN champagne helps [grin.gif])

On the strength of CdP, Grenache edges-out Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, for me.

I voted Pinot Noir … although I´m not sure …

If I count the often 10-20% Syrah in the Southern Rhone blends … and add the Northern Rhones (and Fonsalette Syrah [stirthepothal.gif] ) … it might be almost the equal … but Grenache isn´t that far behind …

… although Bordeaux as a whole is about the same amount, but divided into CS, M and CF …

Hard to say …

Why should I ? [scratch.gif]

  1. Pinot Noir 244 btls /30% - mostly French
  2. Chardonnay 195 btls /25% - mostly French
  3. Bordeaux Blends 99 blts / 12% - French
  4. Rhone 70 blts / 9% -All French
  5. Sangiovesse 32 blts / 4% All Italian

+1 50% PN, 25% Zin (actually that largely means “Ridge”)

Are you sure an English Pinot counts? [wow.gif]

For a long time my focus was Cabernet. A general disenchantment with Bordeaux and Napa Cab encouraged me to explore new options. It took me a long time to realize that my palate preference was Zinfandel and Pinot (an odd couple, I know).

Cabernet Sauvignon is so dominant in my cellar, all the other poor varieties are bound and wearing ball gags.

Straight up Pinot Noir. If you lump Cabernet Sauvignon and Red Bordeaux Blend together then it’s Cabernet Sauvignon.

Pinot noir.

Hey Steve, did you get that rain I sent ya?My wife said it’s been a little dry down there.
