For me, the Cerbois VSOP was an Armagnac I tried quite early on, and it is still my reference. I’ve purchased bottles that are better on paper but have failed to measure up to the Cerbois VSOP. I’ll probably go buy another bottle for $40 soon, as I just haven’t found anything better. It’s strange that Armagnac does not seem to have the cache of cognac and such. Maybe because it hasn’t been endorsed by a rapper, yet.
Only open wine with food so if I want to relax after work and it’s not dinner time it’s a cocktail 100% of the time.
The thing that relaxes me the most though is cooking. Nothing better after a tough day than putting on some music, popping the cork on a nice bottle and cooking/eating with the family.
It could be a rose’ or a German Riesling in warm weather. I am another fan of Tawny Port when the weather makes a fire in the fireplace desirable. On a beach I like vodka or gin drinks (with tonic water or a Tom Collins or muddled cucumber with gin) or rum drinks such as Mai Tais. When I was still an active skier (some years ago now) I liked the occasional hot rum drink after a chilly time on the slopes.

Those good old days of skiing. I leaned towards coffee and brandy. Before, during and after. Probably why my years of skiing ended at the early age of 45.
Rosé when it’s hot. Champagne the other 90% of the time.

Bourbon.
I can’t drink wine simply to relax, typically, as it stresses me out to decide which freakin’ wine to open…so I’m already starting off on the wrong foot
Bourbon here too.

That’s one of my two problems with wine to relax. The other is that I want to think about the wine too much. I generally drink bourbon to relax, also. Armagnac is my next foray, though.

This. My wife now knows to ask me at least 2 hours in advance before she wants to drink wine. 1 hour for deciding which wine, plus another for air/decant time.
I go with cognac for instant relaxation needs.
German Riesling
Yep.
Bourbon.
