What wine do you drink when you just want to relax?

Craft 100% rye whiskey. Old Potrero or, recently discovered, GoldRun.

@Kevin - Barolo Chinato? Does anyone have enough Chinato to have a glass “whenever (sic) you just want to relax?”

I’m a fan, but I’ve never had more than 6 bottles in my cellar at one time.

I only keep one bottle at a time. In the fridge. When I want some, I pour some. Maybe once or twice per week. When the bottle’s gone, I buy another. It’s perfect for relaxing after dinner, etc.

There are usually a couple dozen bottles open on the desk any given night. So it could be anything. After work my wife and I have an hour carved out for us. I make her a cava cocktail and I usually grab something that I don’t need to retaste for review.

This. Depends on my mood.

Tom sprang one of these on us after a long night of many wines. I was totally unprepared, expecting a wine rather than a digestif. It did not make a good first impression. Interesting stuff, though, once I reoriented. Sort of an Italian interpretation of a Retsina/Chartreuse blend. I doubt I could drink more than a couple of ounces.

Depends on my mood but more often than not its a village level red burg.

That’s all I have. Just enough to have a few sips.

As mentioned German Riesling and no not “Relax” which is a growing trend of horrible under $12 crap.

Rose during the week and sparkling on the weekend.

Alcohol

Completely depends on mood, environment, etc. A cold Rose outside in the summer sun, some big red for Monday Night Football, a port by the fireplace…the list goes on and on and varies constantly.

I love to pop a 1812 Madeira Malmsey Solera and wonder what Napoleon was doing when the grapes were harvested…

Rosé

red

Caribbean Rum or Spanish Brandy (I live by the beach, it’s cool and damp when I get home)…

Ch Laubade is usually readily available and a nice entry point. I’ll take Armagnac over Cognac every day of the week.
for us…

or white, or jaune, or…
Maybe an espresso martini also

Riesling for me. Or Bubbles.

Can’t say I find any particular glass of wine any more or less relaxing than another. If I’m in “I need a drink” mode, it’s often some variation of a gin and tonic.

Usually champagne or rosé.
