Nice James!
I fly into Charlotte on Monday the 18th and will be there that night and the 20th. Will try and keep you posted.
16 should have been pretty good on opening?
Cheers

Dundee Hills with that slightly rounder and richer vibe. The acids keep this one in check but still a youthful wine with lots of primary and reasonably good structure. Cheers
A 2015 I had earlier in the week. Still could hold longer. Great undertones and had red fruit still. Great combination. Nice finish. Great wine. Got this and some other when I visited them last year for the first time. Did a beserker order and did pickup. Brought the wine home and one of the bottles was signed by Will. Great seeing Mitch again and meeting Will.
My man! What’s shaking?
The 2016 was indeed fire.
I received an email notification that you were going to be in the Raleigh area for the wine dinner with wine solutions, so I’ve been meaning to check in with you. Do you have any formal tastings or dinners in Charlotte that week? I’ll follow up with an email, but coincidentally enough some friends from the Cork Vault are hosting an Oregon Chardonnay tasting on Wednesday, May 20. We would enjoy your company if you are available.
I am not yet in the loop but have an event of some kind in Charlotte on the 20th.
I will also be in town the evening of the 18th and may be catching up with my cousin but if you’re around…
Sounds good on Cork Vault but Corbin has a plan I’m sure
We did a private label for Fig Tree that is just dropping from X Omni which should “over deliver” I hope
Talk soon
Opened a 2022 Polk County Cuvee over the weekend. Immediately overwhelmed by the intoxicating aromatics that this cuvee offers, and really reinforces why I love Will’s wines so much. Couldn’t keep my nose out of the glass.
The palate was restrained (although not reticent) on day 1, and the tannin structure fleshed out and became more mouth-coating on subsequent days.
Glad to hear Brandyn. 22s are really starting to sing and this one is more savory than the others with a good portion of Temperance Hill. Rigidness will continue to relax over the years I suspect. Cheers
Cross posting from the ATOC thread -
We drank the 2023 Violin Bracken the other night. Super wine!
Anyone tried the Omni recently?
Really really good. Bought three, still have 2 and trying to keep my mitts off them.
2022 Sojeau Pinot Noir is also really fine, and while I’d put the Chard a notch ahead that is probably more a reflection of the fact that I like chard more than pinot than anything else. Fresh and savory nose with red berries, orange peel, leather, dirt, tea. The wine is silky and glides across the palate, with medium-minus body, medium acidity, and light and fine but grippy tannins that give a bit of an old-school vibe. The finish is moderate. Very nice wine and one that I’d be interested to check back in on in a decade.
I was fortunate to taste the 2023 Violen Bracken Chardonnay with Will back in June, and it was indeed quite good. I dare say the 2024 was even better, at least to my tastes and preferences. I’d also add that at just ~12.5% ABV (if I’m remembering correctly) I was surprised at the flavor depth and concentration in both.
Wow if the 24 is better I will load up. At the time I thought the 23 Bracken Chard might have been the wine of the entire trip!
If I recall correctly, the 2024 Violin Bracken Chardonnay seemed to exhibit a bit more flinty reduction vs. the 2023, and I personally enjoyed that. To be fair, some of that might be attributed to it being one year younger, but perhaps not entirely. There was only one solution - get some of both!
It was my white of the trip last fall.
