what took me so long? 2007 Sottimano Lange Nebbiolo

So, I’ve been a little Italian curious over the last week or two. I thought I’d start to pick up a Sangiovese or Nebbiolo here and there and see whats going on.

On a whim, picked this up at my local wine shop. For $26, how could I go wrong. Decided to open it and pour out a 1/2 glass mid day. the legend of nebbiolo being tannic and acidic made me do this. Checked in on the glass here and there…really acidic at first, then really tannic. After being open about 10 hours, starting to get interesting.

Fabulous perfumed dried cherry nose. Pulls you into the glass. Definately on the darker fruit side, but the tannins are still a tad bit overwhelming. Beautiful soft texture. Despite the tannins I am really fascinated with this bottle. I think there is really something to this Nebbiolo thing

I anyone has any recommendations on producers, vintages, etc to look out for that are relatively ready to drink and affordable, I am all ears.

Have to say, this is what I love about wine, always a new discovery to be had.
