I was in the Finger Lakes the week before and tasted a number of excellent cab franc and pinot noir ros wines from several producers. Knapp had one from saperavi that was notable.

Pale in appearance and overall impression, not necessarily a step up from their basic line(s). Not my favorite name in the first place.
Back to good form after a weak 2024.

2023 Kim Crawford Rosé
Opened by a friend. Made from grapes grown in France which surprised me coming from this New Zealand producer. Pale pinkish orange color. Notes of watermelon and kiwi. Thinner and a bit watery. 84 points.

That’s a crazy color. Reminds me of the Enfield Foot Tread Rosé. It’s so pretty (and a bit bigger in body than many rosés) that I always open some around the holidays.

What didn’t you like about the 24? For my palate it was the opposite of weak, as I found it dry and tannic, more like drinking red wine than rosé. Serious and excellent. Should hold up and improve with some cellar time.
I found it bland and overall rather neutral, missing savory elements.
One might think that these BANDOL roses really need more time to come together and shine right? Just like with red wines, if you drink these too young, they might not show all that they have to offer. At least that’s been my experience thus far. It’s too difficult to judge them really young to know where they’re going to go.
Again, just my two cents here.

I am not sure the 2024 vintage is even ready to drink. To your point, serve it at cellar temp in a dark room and most will guess red wine. This is one of those vintages of Tempier that will reward losing a few bottles in the way back of the cellar and opening in 2030+.

2023 Quinta de S. Sebastião Vinho Regional Lisboa Rare
Bought on clearance for $4. This Portuguese wine is a blend of Syrah and Touriga Nacional. Pale pink color from a light maceration. Pale pink color. Not a very deep wine. Notes of strawberry kool aid. 83 points.

I agree with this, Larry, I think that the best rosés need some time to come around, whereas the commercial rule for lesser examples is ‘drink it before the next vintage is picked.’

Second bottle of this. Smashing. Blood orange, a touch underripe strawberry, rose petals, crushed granite. This is a well made Pinot, but lighter; showing clarity and freshness. Very food friendly. Went extremely well with miso glazed pork tenderloin.

We have been looking for a replacement fo Brana rose and this is the current contender. It's good! It has more cherry than Brana, and is juicier, but does bring some of that tomato component, which we loved in Brana. To the plus side, it's more concentrated than Brana has been in recent years, staying true to style and not straying provencal, thank goodness. To the minus, it lacks some liveliness and focus, the zing that the best Brana had, though there is plenty of acidity. Jonathan found a slightly tin-y quality on the finish. We both found it best with food, especially chorizo and some homemade tuna-stuffed piquillo peppers, which brought its good qualities into focus. Overall we liked it quite a bit, a lot of wine for the price.

2025 Dehlinger Pinot Noir Rosé
Assuming you mean the rosé trocken? Easy buy, especially in magnum. Nothing complicated, just super refreshing, red fruited, cool toned mineral goodness with that x factor that makes Ulli’s wines so damn pleasurable.
