2024 Château d’Aqueria Tavel
I haven’t had this wine since the 2003 vintage. This winery has been around since 1890. 50% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 10% Clairette, 10% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault and the rest Bourboulenc. Deeper red pink color. Fuller bodied. This had a nice round profile with fine minerality and notes of bing cherries and rosehips. 93 points.

Thanks for this - 93 points for a wine that retails for ~US$10-15 is surely back the truck up time!
(Sadly not available in Hong Kong where I am though)
Dumien Serrette Rose 2024
Fresh and crispy Syrah (from Cornas?). Tart cranberries, cherries, rhubarb. Good (and I hate rhubarb).
I took the liberty of creating this wine on CT so you could put your TN there! ![]()
NV Weingut Markus Huber Sparkling Rosé
Ordered a glass predinner at a restaurant. A blend of Zweigelt and Pinot Noir in this Austrian wine. 6 hours of skin contact. Pink with a slight orange hue. Medium to lighter bead. Flowery nose. Moderate minerality with raspberry notes. 86 points.

2024 Château de Manissy Tavel Cuvée des Lys
This estate dates back to the 17th century. I previously had the 2022 which was excellent. 60% Grenache, 30% Clairette and 10% Syrah from 40 year old vines. Deeper pink rose color. Rose petal aromas. Loaded with spice and wet stone notes. Full bodied. I previously had the 2022 and 2023 and this wine has been very consistent. 90 points.

2021 Enfield Foot Tread rose. 50-50% Grenach/Mourvèdre. These keep getting better and better with age. Full body with good acidity, packed full of wild strawberry, forest floor and quite vinous. A world class rose.
The old clarete/clairet style is one that I have discovered and am enjoying very much. Most recently the 2022 and 2023 vintages of Bendito Destino’s wine from Spain. Made with very traditional methods, for me these are superb wines which are so easy to drink, but which reward some contemplation.
- 2023 Bendito Destino Ribera del Duero Clarete - Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero (30/06/2025)
From the producer website:
"We use all seven different grapes found in our vineyards, with mostly Tempranillo, Garnacha, Bobal & Monastrell in terms of red varieties, and Albillo, Pirulés and Alarije in terms of white grapes."
This is a really very nice, light wine. The nose is rich sweet mixed red fruit: cranberries, raspberries, strawberries. The palate is lovely and fresh, light, elegant. Beautifully balanced and so easy to drink, but yet warranting a little contemplation of the palate which is wonderfully fruity but not in any way sweet or cloying. The finish is quite long, with just a hint of light tannins, and strawberries that go on for a long time.
This isn't cheap wine at the ~US$48 that I paid, but for me it's worth the price.
(Edit to add: beware of some tartrate crystal sediment in some bottles.) (92 points)
- 2022 Bendito Destino Ribera del Duero Clarete - Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero (15/04/2026)
Previously had the 2023 which is one of my favourite rosés, and this is very similar, if not better.
The nose is rich sweet mixed red fruit: cranberries, cherries, strawberries. The palate is lovely and fresh, light, elegant. Beautifully balanced and so easy to drink, but yet warranting a little contemplation of the palate which is wonderfully fruity but not in any way sweet or cloying, with just a hint of milk chocolate. The finish is quite long, with just a hint of light tannins, and strawberries that go on for a long time.
For the ~US$50 that this cost it isn't cheap, but it's definitely worth it for me. (92 points)
Any suggestions for crisp, refreshing, crowd pleasing, readily available (at Total Wine?), roses to serve at a Kentucky Derby party (Run for the Rosés?) this weekend - alongside Mint Juleps and other goodies?
I have my favorites from some producers on this board but unfortunately did not stock up enough to feed a crowd.
Total Wine customers are pretty much “the crowd”, so maybe their customer ratings will actually be helpful here!
Then again, Beringer Main & Vine White Zinfandel is pretty high up there…
I don’t know about your total wine, but the ones around here have 100 bottles of crappy rs laden saignee with cutesy labels and maybe 1-2 OK bottles. If I had to go in blind I’d look for the 2-3 non gimicky bottles from provence and cross my fingers.
Yah, though uninspired, probably couldn’t miss with AIX, Miraval, or Whispering Angel.
AIX was actually the rose BTG on a few of of the fancier lunch restaurants I visited in France.
Good point! Thanks for the responses - certainly not looking to overthink this given the occasion, but while my Total Wine is decent, this is one of the only times I step foot in it annually and the rose selection is a lot of what is described above.
Will probably end up just crossing my fingers and hoping I don’t end up with something overly sweet leaving me with a bunch of bottles leftover that I have to pawn off at cookouts all summer ha.
Depending on your state, you may be able to return the bottles.
