Unclear if this is a niche thing but I really like rakia, and am curious what others enjoy! What fruit base is your go-to, do you drink it by itself or pair with food, and for those of us who don’t have uncles bootlegging a batch at home, what brands do you buy?
One of my favs I sip on at home is this bottle my friend (funnily also named Branko) gifted to me! It’s a plum-based rakia from Belgrade that’s oaked for 10 years.
No self respecting Branko will bring you a commercial rakija 
. Home made is the only rakija that counts.
I mostly stay away from the harder stuff these days but except plums, quince can be very good. If you also include non fruit based green walnuts can be great and the various herbal versions like travarica (Pelinkovac - but I’m not sure if that falls under rakija? Antique is good and less sweet).
Grapes are usually less fun for me, but it really depends on who made it.
Ah yes, have had a lot of fun with quince and walnut ones before! Haven’t had much experience with the herbal ones, will keep an eye out if I get the chance
