What Patricia Green Cellars are you drinking?

@Jim_Anderson - Jim, did you sell all of your PGC BD17 offers? I don’t see any PGC listing in the BD17 thread. Perhaps I am just not looking in the correct thread . . . .

We dropped at 9:30.

2009 PGC Balcombe Vineyard Pinot Noir. Just beautiful wine. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :wine_glass: After decanting off the sediment, spent all of five minutes in the decanter.

Oh, and this just came on . . . :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

As much as I won’t ride for the 2004s and 2010s, I am there with guns blazing for the 2009s. Of all the vintages Patty and I truly did together this is the apex for me. There were some misses but the highs were outstanding. I know we perform at an overall better level now than then but it was fun to have these “knock it out of the park” moments back in the day. Love this wine. The Block 1B bottling of this is another level.

@Jim_Anderson - What is the 24 Dollar Bills Only Pinot?

Holy smokes. It’s not even out yet that I’m aware of. Maybe some closer to Oregon state got it already. Or is it like a pre-sale thing?

The DBO label was out 2nd label that allowed us to use wonky wines in a still saleable bottling. Mostly was just sold in Oregon as it rarely was above 10-12 barrels. This was from 2001-2013 vintages. After that our ability to make more consistently excellent wines went up to the point that the second label was superfluous. And then 2020 came along. We doctored up the semi-viable wine to the point that it was legit tasty and priced it to move so that people would DRINK it. We made 7,000 cases of it and, with its revised label, it gained a following.

The 2024 iteration is, unfortunately, a little bit more sign of the times. There is more fruit being grown than is needed/wanted by production. Through hustle and some folks I’ve known I got stuff for dirt cheap. Like 25-30 year old vines with good growing practices for that. It’s really good wine.

Got an Avalon mailer for it today.

Bingo!

If you had the 2014 Berserker Cuvée I’d put the 2024 DBO in that sort of category. Depending on where you live it’s probably $18-$19 retail.

P&P… Beserker Day purchase….. let er’ rip! Crushable was my first reaction as this already shows an impressive blast of boysenberry and other red / blue fruit hybrids that shows a really purity of essence (had to get the Strangelove reference in there). Yet, spending some time with this bottle, it’s clear there is a much more going on, with a lovely mineral streak on the back half and smart acidity. I do think this will continue to drink well young, but age as long as you like. $25 from BD - insane value play here. (93 points)

Just delicious. 2019 PGC Volcanic. Part of a “Dundee Hills 6-pack” Jim put together for BD14, which was my very first purchase of PGC wines. :wine_glass:

Haven’t had a 2019 in a long time. Once we get about 3 years past vintage date they leave the realm of being sold and enter the realm of not old enough to show as a library wine. Usually takes another 10 years to cycle back into my purview. Lived the vintage. A warm and early vintage disrupted by late August and early September showers that really turned the vintage into something special. Very lovely wines.

Hope it showed nicely.

2005 PGC Whistling Ridge - wasn’t one of my favorites of that vintage closer to release, but drank very well yesterday. CT said I had one left, come to find out my inventory was off and I had two. I am not upset about having another!

2005 was our third vintage with Whistling Ridge. The vineyard was just 16 years old at this point and not in the greatest shape for a farming perspective. The wines tended to be pretty tannic on their youth. Glad that over 20 years it had held on and come about.

My first bottle from this vineyard and definitely the best one yet! I would say this is on the lighter, more approachable side for this winery, and if I, you know, had a few cases of 2023s and a cellar full of PGC, I’d put this bottle in the drink earlier section. Not that it is at risk of going over the hill or even remotely showing its full potential. Really tasty. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
