I’ve been trying to avoid dropping $100+ on CdP wines but today I finally broke down with respect to one of my favorite CdPs over the decades:

3 x Clos des Papes 2019
2 x Clos des Papes 2017
1 x Clos des Papes 2015

along with 3-each of a 2019 CdR and 2020 CdR I’ve liked over the years.

Vast majority of Rhone, S maybe more so than N, seem vastly undervalued compared to the rest of Europe. But happy it is so.

I still purchase half a dozen or so different really great CdPs (Pegau included) at or below that price. And, of course, still many CdRs and Gigondas available. It’s just been that Clos Des Papes and Janasse Chaupin were two wines I consistently purchased vintage after vintage for decades. I have had a difficult time bringing myself to purchase those juices once they climbed over $100.
