While I have participated from time to time, I don’t really understand the point of this thread.

As Sarah said motivations for posting likely varies quite a bit.

I think underlying all that though is excitement for the purchases and a desire to share that with others who may understand that. Berserkers are a weird and wacky minority of folks after all.

I do like the thread. I think it’s fun to see what people both buy and are excited about. Sometimes deals pop up, or the latest vintage gets released. It’s fun, and at times really informative knowing all that. Through the thread I’ve found great deals as well as wines and retailers that were not on my radar previously. So I find this thread super informative and beneficial.

I’ve got no problem with someone that’s excitedly sharing that they just got their DRC allocation. I think Berserkers is probably one of the few outlets of folks who may understand that giddiness.

I’m newer here, but friendly info-sharing is certainly my motivation (given that I’m not quite able to flex about a DRC allocation). I enjoy seeing what my fellow nerds are buying and it often prompts me to look up new producers. In return, I’m happy to share the things I buy in the hope that it might inspire/inform someone else.

I always assumed it was enabling. Seeing what other people buy makes your own purchases seem that much more reasonable. And then you pass on the favor.

I would not overthink it, Dennis. It’s pretty cool to see what people are buying. And in particular, seeing what certain people whose palates you seem to align with are buying at the moment. I cannot tell you how many times I have sent a PM to somebody to find out where they got what they bought. I find it to be a very informative thread. Sure one can look at it as bragging, but I think there is more to it.

To provide some relief from spending all one’s time on the ā€œI have too much wineā€ thread

There are two hobbies. This thread goes to the buying hobby. Other threads go to the drinking hobby.
