Exactly what I said when I set them side by side. Itâs interesting if it is a storage issue or something else, as the Suduiraut are both darker, but one much more so. I may have to figure out how to do a tasting to compare. Not many nights where I would open two full bottles of Sauternes.
Though, Iâm opening a â76 Yquem and a â76 Fargues tomorrow and both have a deep color. Looking forward to the experience!

I went on a bit of a shopping spree today. We made an appointment at Dr. Hermann in Erden, originally just to buy a couple of 2025 Rieslings, but we were very well received and the lady that was working the tasting room today was kind enough to do a mini-tasting just for the 2 of us. I wasnât a huge fan of their dry wines, but they are more known for their PrĂ€dikat bottlings anyway and those did not disappoint. So I bought:
Urziger wĂŒrzgarten Kabinett alte Reben - 2025 x 12 (interesting fact: they only designate vines as âoldâ at 100 years or order - as opposed to the normal 25 year minimum)

Two bottles I picked up at the Fetes des Vignerons Indépendants today at the Tourny in Bordeaux. Tasted both before purchasing, both in the 24 euro range. Really nice stuff and excellent value. The Larrieu-Terrefort is about 80% cab sauv, vintage 2022. Needs at least 5-6 more years. The St-Emilion is drinking beautifully right now.
