Depends on what you paid for, got my latest Initial for 217 Euros (all in) in March, and $240 USD last January. Compare this to current 2012 Dom P. prices makes the Initial purchases seem less āstupidā.
Totally understand, same rationale how some people can still buy Arnoux, Mugnier, Gonon, Cedric Boucard, Ulysse Collin, and Selosse, at āregularā prices, these $500+ for Initial are āafter marketā prices. I totally understand the frustration as it is quite difficult to buy these sought after wines at āregularā prices as you will need to have strong and long relationships with the retailers who still sell them at āregularā prices. Personally I have no idea how long this will last as I do not know if these retailers will soon join the bandwagon and also raise their prices to āmarketā pricing. I hope they do not, but I have no control whatsoever in that decision. I am just happy that some of them still put āreasonableā markups and do not gouge their customers.
My father and I drank Caudalies last night. 2021 release, disgorged in 2019. Very youthful, very effervescent, well balanced, but not giving much at all yet aromatically. Young and bright palate. Very good potential; Iāll let the others sleep for awhile before opening another. Will likely buy more based on what we tasted last night. Thanks!
