Many of the offer Iâm seeing on the east coast are close to doubled compared to last year. That big price jump doesnât seem fully explained by the rise in wholesale cost.
Thereâs certainly a handful of stores that are selling Cotatâs in the $60 range. Sort of what Iâd expect pricing to be at given the wholesale price increase.
What Iâm struggling to understand is the number of stores selling it for in $80+ range
Spent 4 days in Napa visiting wineries; it was an amazing visit with beautiful wines
Purchased too much to list each wine
Adamvs
Nine Suns (picked up 3 paks of the 11-14 vintages)
Plinth
Quivet
Bench (new to me Mike Smith)
Vice Versa (was able to get some Mysterons and Magnificent 7; also ordered a case of Commando G La Bruja de Rosas based on a conversation with Ilse).
Memento Mori (great opportunity to buy some back vintages)
Seven Apart (first time trying these wines)
Arrow & Branch (first time trying these wines)
TOR
Bevan (bought some older vintages in addition to more of the current release)
Rivers-Marie (bought a little more of some favorites)
Pulido-Walker (first time trying these wines)
We had a wonderful visit and tasting with Nigel, but sadly no Kinsman Eades available to purchase
I will need to greatly augment the holiday gifts for my UPS and FedEx delivery folks.
Even more 2019 Wasenhaus 2019 spatburgunders - my sense is increasingly so that this will be the last readily available vintage in the US, as the wines have gained a lot of popularity and many retailers have started to allocate pretty strictly this vintage. As a result I am essentially buying everything I can.
Just be wary of the Grande Ordinaire. Itâs super natty, not what I expect from Wasenhaus. Fine if you like that kind of thing, but we drank one (well, some of it) and gave the other 5 away.
JACKPOT
9 bottles of VCC 1998. I have been hunting this for several weeks ever since I drank an incredible bottle. Perfect fills, labels.
Didnât hurt there was a single bottle of the unicornish Magdelaine 1985 was offered.
