What is the most recent wine you wanted but passed on?

this is occasioned by the “most recent wine purchase” thread and the recent price hikes of Allemand, Salon, among others. For me, it is Salon–just too hard to pay almost $400/bottle including tax. Won’t buy any.

PC discounted Jadot; Envoyer Michel Chablis.

1998 Ausone 6 pack for $2500 … Liked the price but cellar is overflowing.

I passed on some 2010 DRC Corton yesterday.almost pulled the trigger

2012 Ceritas Pinot Noir Porter-Bass

2012 Ponsot wines . Just got too expensive . Others too .

2002 Salon was a tough pass
2011 DRC at fair prices was tough…just couldn’t justify it
passed on 2012 Dauvissat (really hurt)

2011 Allemand and Clape

LMHB, sadly out of reach for me now.

Whatever the recent vintage of Cristal is - I laughed away at 400+.

Also, Grange. Priced out after the big jump a few years ago, before I even had the chance to get in.

Hope to find back/off vintages of all the above at more sane prices.

Allemand and Clape have seemed overpriced for a while for me. There seems to be several more semi hidden NR gems to explore that are more in the sub $50 range. Salon has been crazy expensive ever since I first drank it a few years back. I’ve never considered buying Salon even when it was just …$250 per.

Pretty much all Grand Cru Chablis and especially the spendy Fevres & Dauvissats. Buying mostly lesser know 1er Cru and AOC Chablis now. I might make an exception for some '12 Billaud Simon Preuses and Clos. Also deleting every offer for 2011 /2012 red Burgs. I’m only buying a very few back vintages of red Burgnudy now.

2012 Myriad ‘Elysian’ Dr. Crane Reserve.

Just curious…what constitutes “fair” prices for the latest DRC offering?

Step up and do what’s right! [stirthepothal.gif]

FWIW, I did pass on the Clavelier today, and good I did, since I own that Allemand crap now. [rofl.gif]

I know, I know, been rethinking it all day… I’m really trying to backfill though. You can buy some very nice, mature wines for that tariff.

I recently passed on a 1982 and 1990 Margaux.

2011 Allemand today. 2010 Conterno CF recently.

I think about pulling the trigger often before pulling back. Trying to focus now on buying predominantly whites, champagne, and back vintages. I’ve gotten way too heavy with young reds that need to age – and I’m 80/20 red/white when I drink just as much if not more white.

2006 Bartolo Mascarello-kept waiting for a bargain.

What was the price on the '90 Margaux? What would have been the number that worked?

It’s on auction and I got outbid so I passed. The price plus the vig was almost where I could purchase at an online retailer. Plus, I have several other bids in. Zachys May auction, check it out.

Almost forgot, current price is $700
