what have I got? 2005 La Famille Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Gibryotte

Bought a few of these on a lark. 1er Cru from a very good vintage, but I imagine these are not likely to be long term agers. Anyone have a view on when they should be opened?

If I’m not wrong these are their negotiant wines, I forget when they started but it could have been 05’.
I have no experience with the negoc. wines, but I have tasted in the winery, walked the vineyards and enjoy the style of wine.
Claude’s wines are a little forward, but have everything in place, it depends what kind of pinot you like, do you like dark cherry or Lighter raspberry with higher acid.
Claude’s wines are dark cherry and he made really good 05’s so I would imagine that this wine is pretty good, I would just hold them 10-15 years.

Thanks Jason. Definitely negotiant wines. Are you saying another 10-15 years, or 10-15 from vintage? I’m thinking I may open one tonight

Claude Dugat’s wines tend to be bigger and richer then most Burgs. Seems like a modernist to me.

Certainly the domaine village Gevrey Chambertin is long lived, so if this is similar, I would expect another 15+ years of life.

Neal, depending on how many you have, crack one in five years and every five years after. It should be great 15 years from now.

thanks all

Why not try one now?
