Hi All,
My memory might be a bit vague, but I recalled I used to go to an annual event called Pinot Days, both in LA and SF (Fort Mason I recalled)…
It has been at least 8 years or more since last time I go…and when I recently try to search the website: Pinotdays.com, it turns to some website that look so unfamiliar, with the logo that does not ring the bell at all…
after some search I see no one on the forum been posting anything regarding the event since 2017 or so…anyone knows what happened?
I remember the person I used to talk to from the event coordinating team is Lisa Rigisich, but that no longer turnout to be part of the team member in current website page…
They closed up shop a number of years ago - strange to see someone have that website but the site may have become available after the Rigisichs decided not to move forward. I know that Steve had some medical issues and it was becoming challenging for Lisa and the volunteers to continue to pull the events off. It was also become more and more challenging to find sites to hold the event - Fort Mason in SF was home to it for a number of years but became more challenging and costly to book (that’s why the Rhone Rangers stop doing their event there).
I know that @EricWhite was very involved in this event and may be able to shed some further light on it. I had great memories pouring wines for Fess Parker Winery at the events back in the day - and even took part in some of their seminars as well a winemaker dinner in LA. I also met some fantastic people pouring at the event.
Those tasting events were great! I’m so sad Steve and Lisa had to discontinue.
It appears this Pinotdays.com has absolutely nothing to do with the Rigisichs. Seems the folks with the site are trying to monetize pointing folks to Amazon products to be well-dressed for wine tasting in every season, proper glassware, etc.
Within the last month or two I received an unsolicited offer to buy the Pinot Days mailing list. Didn’t give it much thought before deleting the email. It may be connected to this site.
Bottom line: The current site has absolutely no connection to the event or the people we know as far as I see.
Yeah, so was my favorite…
Unfortunately like @Fred_Scherrer states, the current site has nothing to do with what it used to be…and that’s why I created the post trying to find out what in the world is going on…
Steve has some pretty serious health problems, and simply was not able to continue (he is doing well though, I saw them both several months ago). Too much for Lisa to take on with her kids nearly grown, working full time, and taking care of Steve. And I moved away, so wasn’t really practical for me to take it all on.
Thank you Eric,
Again, it is sad to see the event is no longer active, and sadder when learning the site “Pinotdays.com” being used for unrelated group…
