What Goodfellow/Matello are you drinking?

Might have missed this elsewhere but what’s the source of the fruit for the vin soif?

This is what my wife wanted for her B-day, half with an old fashioned shrimp cocktail and the remainder with pasta and (the rest of the) grilled shrimp.
Lovely chard, really enjoyable, thanks Marcus

That seems like a vote for the pinot blanc.

I’d say so. Both from what I recall Marcus saying and the last vintage of the PB (2021?), I’d call it an early drinker. While the Riesling is likely already great, based on the 18/19 versions, I think it has upside development of at least ten years.

First peek at the vin soif is quite promising.

I love both of those right now. The Pinot Blanc smells beautiful, and I love the energy and texture. It’s young for sure, but I think I prefer Pinot Blanc when it’s young and vibrant.

The Riesling is dynamite and while there’s lots of upside, it’s really worth a look now. Just prep for a more serious Riesling experience, as it’s only 2.8 g/l RS and a sub-3.0 pH. It’s great with dishes that have some fat/dairy (NE clam chowder, alfredo or carbonara pastas, or softer farmhouse cheeses).

Thanks Marcus. I’ll probably try one of each in the next week or two and then hold the rest of the Rieslings for a while.

2013 Whistling Ridge. 4.5 hours air. On the nose intensity is relatively moderate but it’s really pretty, with rosebud, dried flower, black tea, strawberry rhubarb, woodsy undertone, bit of good clean garden dirt. On the palate it’s subtle, more elegant than intense; mouthwatering acidity; fine but firm tannin. Flavors emphasize red fruit and tea aspects of the nose. Aromatics outdo the palate at this point, but can see why folks think there’s upside here. Glad to have a couple more bottles.

I saved a glass of the Vin Soif for day 2, and if anything, it was marginally better. Better integration, better depth, and better finish.

I thought the vin soif was drinking amazingly. It had beautiful fruits and was eminently crushable.

Appreciate you all checking in on the crushable whites. I have a case of each coming to MA next week for lakeside summer drinking. Will post some notes as soon as we get into them.

On day 2, the palate is coming together a little more and increasing in intensity, now with savory sour cherry coming into the picture. Better today.

@ChrisJames

I thought you would be pleased to know that my Spring offering was delivered today

4 PB and 2 Riesling…

 :clinking_glasses:

My Berserker Day shipment of Goodfellow sparklers arrived today. When I brought the box into the house I got the predictable eye roll from my wife. Then I opened the box and showed her the bottle type…eye roll turned to smile!

Now to wait a few months before opening one…
