What do you think about Ponsot?

That is a very astute observation regarding Truchot, Stuart- much as I admire and love the wines they aren’t quite unique, it is rather that few have heard of those who still make wine that way. And as you know I’m another Georges Lignier admirer.

91 Ponsot CDLR was one of the best CDLRs I have ever had the pleasure to drink. A spectacular wine in every way.

Agreed! I had an amazing bottle of this wine a couple of years ago.

Also agree, and the '91 Clos St. Denis is no slouch either.

Cheers,

Stuart,
This would be a great tasting. I could supply a Truchot.

If I may slightly drift…

Has anybody tasted the 2001 Ponsot CdlR? Is this reaching an early peak drinking window like some other '01s?

Steve, Personally I believe the 01’s are going through a dumb phase and should be avoided.

Ok Stuart sorry for the mistake. Then just to clarify. Who makes a comparable CDLR for much less money. Are you talking current release price ?

I’ll supply a something

tasting in Philadelphia…whenever you guys can get here with the wines!

Yes, Nick, current prices. I don’t pay attention to the aftermarket. And, frankly, I"m no expert on current (ie, post-2005 vintage) wine prices or current producers of CdlR…so I"m not a good source of further info.-- beyond what I’ve already opined.

Steve,

Had it about a year ago, in SF, when a visiting prof. came. It was fantastic.

So that’s my point. New release Ponsot is about the same as Dujac and Lignier. Maybe slightly higher.

Thanks, Mike.
When are we getting together to drink some Burgs?
Have you properly celebrated yet?
