What did you cook tonight?

I made a pot of white beans in a somewhat similar style to your soup. I simmered a pork shank in water with some celery and onion, let the shank cool and picked the meat from the bone. In another pan I sautéed the mirepoix and mushrooms, then added some of the strained pork broth, a couple cans of cannellini beans and some of the shank meat. Delicious! With the remaining shank meat I made a dish similar to corned beef hash.

I make this general concept a lot, probably a couple times a month.

Before…salmon fillets and bok choy/mushrooms tossed in ponzu & black beans. These are seasoned separately, btw.

After…glazed with a sweet mango sauce after 30 min at 400F

A friend gave us a huge bag of dried porcini so it was time for pappardelle with porcini.

I’ve never seen parpadelle with the edges like that-lovely

I got the cutter from Fante’s in Philly. That store is dangerous!

My beautiful mother turns 90 yrs old today. We celebrated with some friends/family yesterday.
I made her a Mocha cake. I really need to take a cake decorating class so I can learn how to properly smooth the frosting along the side of the cake. Always a struggle…

Your mom and the cake both look amazing!

Madeleine Kamman’s Guinness beef stew…

I was pressed for time and used a package of Costco pre trimmed and cubed ‘stew’ meat, which was far better than I had expected.

While the stew was in the oven, a platter of potatoes fondant…

I’ve still never made potatoes fondant but need to change that. They always look so good!

I realize I misspelled her name and have now corrected it

What a coincidence. That’s the name of my indie first peoples foodie stoner shoegaze band.
