I’m curious about lot 450!
Lot 450 | 2022 Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
First of 12, with a 30 minute decant. Almost 1.5 years bottled. This is a nice, lean, well flavored Mountain wine. Somewhat subtle & elegant. I like this as a single yum🍷. Under $20, decent QPR. I prefer this multiple of 50, only to both #50 & #150. Should improve nicely with more age. with beef patties

OG N.56 2018 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
Last bottle of 12. Nearly 6 years bottled, PnP.
A VERY Fine, medium bodied cool climate PN.
I drank the first 10 bottles before the nose developed. Previously, it was a nice red wine with just a little PN character. Now, the nose has complexed with umami and delightfully matured Pinotberries!!
Huge positive improvement!! Still has nice firm acidity, I believe it can go another year or two?

429 and 550 - both Napa Proprietary red….back to back over the last few nights. 429 is such a pleasant drinker. Not particularly memorable but pleasant and easy to drink. Didn’t improve on day 2…. Then opened 550. It’s one of my least favorite wines and by far the most disappointing round number wine ( it’s the reason I didn’t buy lot 600) . I don’t know how to describe it other than cranberry juice that’s been fermented, absolutely no length on the palate I welcome someone else to weigh in. I assure you you won’t regret opening it too soon bc you will still have 10-11 more that you can be disappointed with in the future and you can make sangria (which actually would work well for) or cook with to make room for your fall shipments

Still have 12 of the 550 in hopes that someday people would say “it turned around!” “Amazing wine”. But alas…. the weather is still hot so sangria is a great option! Sounds like this will rank right up there with the N.106 Tempranillo that @B_Bauer and I complain about.

Agree on both counts, I wish I’d had two cases of 429 and none of 550. My disappointment with 550 was definitely a contributor to all of my wine spend migrating away from dN and to CX et al.

We can now throw into the dismal mix of unsuccessful dN wines the Lot 422 California [Lodi?] 2022 Petite Sirah which was not appropriate enough to consider for cooking purposes. In reality, we are pointing out an ever so small percent of truly disappointing selections (3 out of 633?).

Curious, will DeNegoce refund you at this point (or in the past) when you didn’t like a wine/it was garbage? With CamX I think Cam has said a couple times that if you don’t like a wine let them know and they’ll make it right.
550 has been amazing for us! When my wife asks for a bottle for cooking, I instantly grab a 550 and say, “Here you go!”

I tried one 3 years ago and it was clearly very high quality wine that was borderline undrinkable. I wont try another one until 2030 and even then it might be too early. Its one of the most tightly coiled wines Ive ever had.

Yes, I know that I made comments on Lot 349 Barossa Valley Old Vine Single Vineyard 2021 Shiraz just a month ago, but my wife wanted to know what would drink nicely today before a Southern Fried Chicken meal. Bingo! Out came the Shiraz from a 50 year old Australian vineyard once again and it’s simply wonderful. Remember, this was $139+ case and for those who purchased this, we are all kicking ourselves for not buying the entire boat load. Some wines simply do not need to be scored 92 points or higher to become one of our all time favorite dNé purchases. Quoting someone from this blog a few years back, ~ the enjoyment is finding a bottle/winery that over delivers for the price, no matter the price paid. 4/12

Thursday evening this lovely Napa Cabernet and Scott’s gateway de Negoce wine (lol)
- 2018 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.17 - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/20/2026)
Popped and poured with homemade Pizza plus Niners-Chargers preseason game.
Consistent with last tasting, this wine is unbelievably a great bargain at $12/bottle offer that is now 8 years from vintage. Not going to find those Napa Cabernets at Costco nor supermarket.
Nose: Blackberry, Cassis, leather, oak spice.
Color: Dark red, opaque in BDX Stem
Palate: Dark berries and black cherry wrapped around a deliciously long tannic finish. The Petite Verdot that stuck out in first year after bottling has now integrated, proving IMO to that tannic grip this wine has. The first year after bottling was rough for this wine- it felt like you were chewing on an oak 2X4, and the PV component made for an awkward finish. Look forward to remaining bottles left. (92 points)

So, after stating where the wines were made, I asked my almost 12yo grandson; “which grapes were harvested first?” He pondered the question, and said that the Lot 349 Barossa Shiraz was harvested first. Smart kid. And, he preferred the dN. I thought both the Lot 349 and the MCK were very tasty albeit different.

OG n.91 Walla Walla Cab last night and tonight…11/12. Sad to see this one dwindle. So tasty at the ridiculous $99 or $129 I paid for a case a few years back. Wish I bought one or two more.

Started Wine 30 with some glasses of the 2021 Touraine Sauvignon Blanc that de Negoce offered back in the day…
Dinner wine:
- 2018 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.46 - USA, California, Napa Valley, Atlas Peak (8/21/2026)
Double decanted 1/2 hour prior to serving with dinner of grilled NY steak and Italian sausages.
Nose: Chaparral, cedar, blackberries.
Color: Dark and opaque, need a laser beam to penetrate this wine.
Palate: A blast of minerality hits your tongue, next a wave of dark fruit, then a blast of tannins on a LONG finish. Well over a minute here. Solid high elevation Napa Cabernet. Having had OG N.17 previous evening, this Cabernet is a notch better. Is it worth $8 more? Both wines are a great bargains. (93 points)
