It didn’t come off as a flex to me. I am impressed and wish I had the capability to store all that.
I’ve got around 40 cases of dN and CamX but the thing holding me back was storage space. Had some friends unfinished basement I was using for some storage but then they decided to finish it and turn it into living space vs storage.
My bank account is happy that I have storage issues as it has put a governor on my dN and CamX purchasing over the years!
To be clear. I don’t have enough storage space. My wife and children believe I’ve stopped buying wine. I have a problem. I have much respect for those who don’t buy wine because they have nowhere to put it and may not even have any use for it.
Can we put that quote on the inside of the t-shirt so only we know it’s there? I can’t be the only one sneaking out to UPS so that I can get the cases into the house while my wife is playing mah jong.
Thursday evening wife and myself enjoyed this Napa Valley Merlot:
2018 de Négoce Merlot OG N.69 - USA, California, Napa Valley (3/12/2026)
Double decanted to serve with homemade sourdough pizza.
Nose: Big whiff of plums, some darker fruits after those plums fade. Slight hint of some florals. Color: Dusky red just see through in BDX stem. Palate: Plums, some red currants, raspberry. There's some gripping tannins in this Merlot too, good mouthfeel, not flabby on a medium length finish. Not quite on par with other de Negoce Merlots such as N.34 Bennett Valley and N.15 Napa Valley Oak Knoll/Oakville. Wine has life ahead of it, not sure it'll improve, but well made Merlot. (91 points)
Friday evening appetizer wine: It’s a beauty, could be my last bottle?
2018 de Négoce Chardonnay OG N.77 - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton (3/13/2026)
Popped and poured into Riedel Sommelier Series Chardonnay Glass
Nose: Gravenstein Apple, Pear mixed in with Lemon Curd. Very enjoyable. Hard to find this in many California Chardonnays. Color: Pale Yellow, about same color as California Sau Blancs. Palate: Apple pie, lemon candy, beautiful acidity on a lengthy finish. Oak integration is excellent. (92 points)
Friday evening dinner wine: This is still a wonderfully drinking 2017 Cabernet Blend.
2017 de Négoce OG N.11 - USA, California, Napa Valley (3/13/2026)
Double decanted back into bottle 20 mins prior to serving with steak dinner.
Nose: Cassis, black cherry, cigar box and violets, classic Napa Cabernet. Color: Dark and nearly opaque Crimson. Palate: Dark fruits, cassis, some mocha all wrapping around pleasant mouthfeel. 15% alcohol provides plenty of glycerin here. No heat noticeable. Wife kept sipping her glass way to fast on this one. She loved it too. See no reason to cellar this further. Drinking wonderful now, 3 bottles left from original case purchase. Similar to tasting in late 2025. (92 points)
2 years bottled, ~6/12, PnP. Surprisingly nice Lake County CS! Deep, dark fruited, ripe (14.7%) & leathery. Great midweek drinker. I prefer this to the 2019 #193. More complexity here. I was both surprised, and pleased that this was drinking so well this young. I’m gonna give it a strong yum, at $159/delivered, this was a great deal!
Lot 385 2019 St. Helena/Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon
3 years bottled, 8 or 9/12, PnP. Pours very dark. This is RICH & Delightfully Full bodied (15.3%) and extra hefty! Nearly overripe. Nose has nice complexity with very ripe dark fruit evident. A delicious and very solid double yum Drinking Great now, age worthy as well!
I had a bottle of OG N.124 a couple of nights ago. Brianschool had put cellartracker note in Sept 24 that it needed more time so I had put a note on my inventory to hold until '26. I agree with Scott. I thought it was ready to go. Dark berry (cherry?) and cocoa/coffee on the palate. Glad to have 2 more to enjoy
Had a few Cabs over the last week or so. First was lot 400 Oakville Cab. I seem to remember having this before and really enjoying it, so maybe bottle variation or just off. A few hours after opening it was heavy, plum/prune almost cooked. Little acid or brightness, just overwhelming dark fruit with no real complexity. Day 2 and 3 improved a bit but still mostly one note.
Second up was Lot 100 Rutherford Cab. I’ve loved this in the past and this time was no different. Pretty much follows Cam’s original description. One of my favorite dN cabs.
What a wonderful Lot 399 Sonoma County 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon gift from a fellow de Négoceator! Dark, almost jet black opaque, truly full bodied, an ever-so-faint intriguing unapologetic sweetness with a crimson glow line circling the glass. The dN enjoyment is finding such a wine that over delivers regardless of price. This is just another example of what members give up with de Négoce/Cam-X futures deals in immediate gratification which extends rewards for patience incurred. Possibly, one of the better de Négoce wines I’ve had. 93 pt / A
