What de Négoce wine are you drinking tonight?

I’m really shocked more people don’t enjoy this style of white. I find Rieslings to be an extremely intriguing varietal when done correctly.

Thank you for the insight, this helped me making my purchase decision…

Day 3 on the 497 (and I’ll try it again tomorrow).
Decent nose; alcohol, dark & brooding, something a little odd.
Great mouthfeel. Flavor; definitely ok, dark/cabernet-like. A little off on the finish.
Overall, not bad on day 3.
I wrote on the box “wait a long long time, maybe 2028”.
If you want to try it now, decant the shiat out of the muthuh!

OG N.102 2018 Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon

PnP, on a Sunday night with a Salami Sandwich, good casual matchup. Ready to finish this one up now/soon.
:wine_glass: @ $120/case.
yep, a Salami Sandwich

Lot 214 2020 Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir

A very hearty PN, drinking well PnP. There’s no rush here, it continues to improve!! Easy to drink up, in spite of its structural strength. 14.4%. Double Yum :wine_glass: :wine_glass:

Lot 497 Day 4.
Ya know; this isn’t a bad wine.
Most wines don’t last this long, sitting on the counter in a corked bottle.
Talking to a wine retailer in Michigan this afternoon, told him of my journey with this wine, didn’t tell him exactly what it was. He said; “Yeah, some of those mountain wines take a long time to come around, like Diamond Mountain”…I said “Yes! that’s the one!”.
It’s done. Glad I didn’t pour it down the drain. I’ll wait years before trying another one.

Far exceeded my expectations. Dark ruby with bricking. Nose is some black cherry with a lot of herb. Palate is a great balance of fruit, leather, earth, herb, with some rose/violet florals as well. Mineral medium plus finish. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect here but this is drinking really well and the herbal/mineral notes are right up my alley. Glad I let this one sit as long as I did and sad I don't have more.

Thank you, Randy!
I appreciate your analysis of #497, I’ll hold on to them for a long while.
I still haven’t tried any #120, probably should drink those first???
I’ll buy up to a dozen unwanted 497’s, for Grocery Outlet prices, anyone?
Keep the faith! :wine_glass:

Lot 486 | 2023 Napa Valley Chardonnay

Just Past bottle shock, PnP. Very nice at this young age.
Rich enough to be interesting, nice depth of flavors, tropical and pineapples with a nice minerality. Plenty of acid to keep it on point for rich food.
This seems very fine now, I DO believe you can age this for another 3-4 years!
Double Yummy :wine_glass: :wine_glass: even for a Chardonnay

Checked in on the 2018 N.21 Atlas Peak CS tonight.
PnP then had during/after dinner - this bottle was ready to go.
Still loving these. Aromatic, balanced and easy drinking. 4 of 24 left.

Just opened my first 486 as well, and I agree with your comments. Very happy to have purchased.

Steve,
Nice to see those 2018 AP Cabs showing their stuff now. Passed myself on the 21 & 22, but grabbed case each of 46 & 47 AP Cabs along with last in Series, #71 Calistoga “Hillside”. 71 was up there with best dN Cabs I’ve had so far.

Cheers, Tim

Tim, I am jealous of your OG24 pinot stash. I only purchased a few bottles and dragged my feet too long on a reorder. I really liked the spice in those.

Sidebar- we hosted neighborhood wine tasting last weekend. Rules were everyone bring 2 of the same bottles <$50 (1 to taste and 1 for the prize pool). About 30 people attended. My thinking was a big plush cab may be a crowd pleaser, so ended up entering the OG146 2017 cab (which I do not prefer as it is too plush and not enough acid), anyway Denegoce 146 took 3rd place. Also burned down the rest of my OG100 and OG42 CS and OG460 SBs as the house red and whites before the event. Good times!

OG N.150 2019 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

PnP. ~3.5 years in the bottle. This is pleasant with some green pepper in the nose. Medium weight everything else. No flaws, not very complex.
I definitely prefer #151.
Worth the $144/case, got too many…

According to Denegociants, dN 497 was bottled in August so should still be in bottle shock. I’m thinking of waiting until '29 to open my first of 6.

2029, That’s a great plan Norm!
That sounds like a long time and yet very reasonable.
Enjoy it then, in case I forget? Cheers!

Lot 255 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

PnP. #26/36, Almost 3 years in the bottle.
This medium+ weight CS, seems somewhat lower than the 15% alcohol stated. Easy to drink up this smooth, dark, complex and delicious double Yum!! :wine_glass: :wine_glass:
I believe you could age this longer, it IS ready for my tastes. $180/case, nice!

Why I love Prime Tri-Tip?
It’s the beautiful marbling:

Being prepared for the standard 17 days of ‘wet aging’’ it’s better for me aged.

  • 2018 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.64 - USA, California, Napa Valley, Calistoga (10/24/2024)
Decanted back into bottle 1/2 hour before serving. Unplanned PG&E power interruption meant no Thursday Night Football. Friend and myself drinking with lantern on.
Poured dark in glass, no bricking (yet). Nose dark berries and some floral notes. 1st glass, this wine exhibited some heat from high alcohol- "boozy" as many would say. Fruit comes through after the heat, with some tannins into a medium finish. 2nd glass, started to pick up a bit of a VA half way through. It wasn't unpleasant, but not enjoyable. 3rd and final glass the VA is more present and certainly less enjoyable. Was VA from improper storage? Unsure as I was gifted this bottle. My experience tells me probably not. I would drink these up myself. Some may not be so sensitive to VA as I am. Also, would suspect that a VA will start generating some bricking at the rim soon. 145 2018 napa cab. This one took forever to come around. It was a “cam custom mix” that I got early 2021 and didn’t love do the first 2-3 yrs. Y’all convinced me to buy a second case on one of the clearance sales about a yr age ($150 ish a case ? ) it’s come around. Very solid full bodied wine. It’s in the Napa rotation. Think I have about a case remaining. Should be fun to watch for the next few years

I agree Luke, we enjoyed a bottle a couple of day’s ago. I think it is beginning to hit it’s stride with good complexity and balance. I bought 2 cases so plan to enjoy it over the next several months.

  • 2018 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.68 - USA, California, Sonoma County (10/25/2024)
Decanted back into bottle 1/2 hour before serving with marinated Top Sirloin steak and grilled Italian sausage. See through dark garnet in the glass. Aromas of chaparral, sage and red plum. More red fruit spectrum on palate here as well, registers of red currants and red plum. Very enjoyable with grilled steak, medium plus length with a clean finish. Tannins are not really grippy as other de Negoce Cabernets. That's why I paired with a lower fat steak like Sirloin. After dinner, watched Golden State Warriors game with wife to finish off this lovely Cabernet. First glass with dinner to last glass w/o dinner this wine was consistently good. Should hold in bottle fine for another 3-4 years. Drink now, while your bigger de Negoce Cabs age in bottle longer. (91 points)
