Daniel,
Thanks for taking one for the team. just got my 2 cases of 328 an hour ago. One will go to a great friend, other stay here. He’ll likely pop one tomorrow when we meet for dinner, even though I tell him these de Negoce wines “need time”. Time is now for his tastes. Happy Friday.
What’s the assumed producer? I haven’t done any research, to be honest, I forgot I even ordered this
Thanks, Daniel! That’s great to hear as I got a case of 2020 328 and one of 2021 330. I had no concerns with it matching so closely what we think it is.
who do we think it is?
Supposedly Sir Peter Michael‘s cuts, Mikko! I can’t believe these were $169 delivered!
what is this based on??
A few more words about #300.
Medium intensity dark ruby, not fully opaque. Nowhere near as extracted as some over-the-top Napacabs. Nose shows cassis, blackcurrants, alcohol, violets and vanilla. Palate is dry, ripe and complex with dark fruits, tart slightly jammy blueberries, smoked cigar, clove, medium+ tannins with nice grip. Nice acidity too providing good structure. Very long and complex finish, obviously high alcohol with a decent burn, this is clearly a very high quality Napa cab, still young and primary but I bet this will develop well for a decade, if not more.
This wine is up there with the big boys from Napa. The alcohol might be off-putting for some, but if you can handle it, this is good sh*t.
Interesting to see how it develops. Now it feels like someone would stuff all the right ingredients in your mouth and ask to swish it. All the parts are there, just not in the right order
Then again, 2020 Paulliac, heck, this is likely the closest an average Joe gets to a barrel sample
It’s all conjecture, of course. But link below and ensuing posts. You can search this site for “de Negoce” and the lot number. You can go to Peter Michael’s site and look at Le Carriere’s tech sheet.
OG N.105 2018 Rocks District Cabernet Sauvignon
Almost two years in the bottle, time to try one. Overall it’s an excellent CS. I was surprised that the acid seemed so tame. (pH low?) More like a California Cab, in that respect. Rich and ready now. The American Oak is wonderful here. The “Silver Oak of Washington”? Good now, 90+, will be better over 2-3 more years. Cheers

You’re talking about a different #. We were talking about #298 in the post you responded to…
welp, anyone in bay area got any 328 they want to share (/trade)?
Oops! Too many threads!
Rohit beat me to it, but we sampled the first 196 cab franc last night, thought to be JGregory. His CT TN is spot on, but I will only add that the alcohol still needs some time to integrate to reveal more of the fruit. The wine is beautifully balanced, with both delicacy & power. I decanted for an hour & then poured back in the bottle overnight. Looking forward to the next bottle in the spring.
The most info we have is from Cam’s comments, and even then there could be some misdirection here.
With that info there is a producer that fits the description and price points. Cam’s blend is different from the 2020 EP I can find for my guess. Although the barrel tasting notes from the places selling it EP seem to line up. I’m not confident enough in wanting to name them in a public forum, and I also don’t want to risk any future BDX deals from DN if we are right (hard to tell how sensitive all of that is given the blurb).
And too many DN wines

2016 Xavier Vignon Arcane IX - Les Amoureux - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône (10/28/2022)
On the nose, raspberry and tar. On the palate, rasberry cream, black olive, strawberry pie, Mediterranean garrigue, lilac, and mint. The 2016 vintage can lack structure, but Xavier Vignon lets the fruit shine here in a silky, balanced effort of a combination of five AOC’s in France. I believe the aging was in concrete which adds some minerality.
Sourced from parcels in Lirac, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Rasteau. (90 points)
This was good. Very silky. I tend to like wines with a little more structure, but this is the structure of the vintage there. Good wine though.
You’re welcome!
I typically pop a bottle of any T1 case I get right off the truck. With N.328 I really wanted to make sure it was going to be in a style that I liked before playing cellar tetris. I suspect the next bottle will get consumed on a rainy day sometime over the winter (and here’s hoping we have a great rainy season in NorCal).
I have bought many De Negoce wines since the launch a few years ago, probably about 8ish different Reds, and 8 or so Whites. #196 is probably my least favorite so far…too thin and sweet for my taste. I guess I like more robust Cab Francs. For example, #85, a Cab Franc from Walla Walla, was really really good…
Daniel - thanks for the detailed tasting notes, have a case on its way so am really looking forward to giving it a swirl.
PHuff - go Terps, sitting 6-2 who would have thought that. Drinking the Lot 261 Collio Rosso as I type, like it a lot
