Besides cream cheese, what cheeses would Berserkers recommend on an appetizer plate centered on smoked salmon? also including things like crackers, olives, capers, etc. Or is it just cream cheese?
Plain or herbed chevre. The tartness is a better complement than cream cheese.

I will second this. Totally true. Fresh goat cheese with chives mixed in would probably go well too.
I will third the goat cheese suggestion. Also, mascarpone, while very similar to cream cheese (is there a difference?), with some chopped capers and lemon zest complements the richness of the salmon nicely.
