What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2)

  • 2014 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly
A fantastic bottle. We brought this to a local restaurant. I was prepared to ask for a decanter, but after a small initial pour decided it didn’t need one. The typical reductive flinty notes had softened into a subtle background spice rather than dominating the wine. White pit fruit and citrus throughout. Dense and luscious yet still airy and crisp. Long finish. We loved this, and it seems to be in a perfect drinking window.

But dammit, lose the heavy bottle with the huge punt! What’s the reasoning behind this??? It’s almost as annoying as Special Club Champagne!
