Kern River Brewing - âJust Outstandingâ IPA
Second Chance Brewing - âFrosty the Hazemanâ NEIPA
Second Chance Brewing is a new-to-me brewery. Out of San Diego. This hazy was fantastic, and Iâll be on the lookout for more of their beers moving forward.
Hadnât seen that can. Looks great!
I have a mag of the anchor. Saw it in a display in a restaurant, they donât actually sell it, and asked the GM if I could buy it.
My last bottle.
Those magnums were great for parties.
Which one is it? The fruity goofy ones are better young, IMO. But in general, the 2020âs should be in prime.
These bottles that are more focused on what kind of whisky barrels they come from, to me do well with some time. It doesnât need to be opened, but 3 years is a good spot.
New batch of Pilsner at Bacab Cerveceria a big improvement over their recent offering. Bite toned down and much better aftertaste. Brewer told me he added hops later in process if that makes any sense to Rick.
The changes in flavor make sense to adding hops later. Our Pils gets over half of its hops in the whirlpool. We also use lower alpha hops (primarily Saaz) throughout the process.
Where do you find Cantillon in the US? Iâve always enjoyed it when in Europe, but donât see it around much here (Iâm us based).
Itâs hard to find in the US. Iâve seen it at specialty bottle shops marked up super high. If itâs even remotely reasonable in price, it moves instantly though. I picked up my particular bottle in Europe.
Depending on your location try to hit up a Zwanze Day at brewery (very limited!) I attended last year at Urban Roots Brewery in Sacramento and it was a blast. Eight or so Cantillonâs on tap including one the was specially brewed for the event. Many beer lovers bring bottles to share so I was able to try ~20 or so Cantillonâs. More info can be found here
