Omfg. Met a dude at Sante Adarius. Bought this 3 years ago and brought it on to open. Excellent! Well balanced complex sour and nice fruit profile
Then he opened a 2013 BCBS which is very good. Smooth. Then a 2014 Supplication. The Brett really bloomed here. It is excellent
Great stuff. Brother said local places (Concord, Ca) are moving cases of this now, so I popped open one I had been saving
probably even earlier than 3 years? I think it’s one of their first beers brewed or at least brewed in their first year in 2012. Very cool. I was able to pick up some batch 1 lady in the grey recently, drinking nicely
A few recents:
While in San Diego I drank a lot of Societies The Pupil. Straight up great. Clean. Light on the malt. Very hoppy but the fruit keeps the bitterness away.
Hipster Repellant IPA by Falls City Beer: Never heard of these guys. Had it on tap in Nashville. Again a great bright IPA.
Simple Man by Honky Tonk Brewing Co.: Had this while waiting for my Hot Chicken at Hattie B’s. This is a Pale Ale which is muddled with out of balance malts. Pass.
Hops Don’t Suck! Mosaic IPA by Stumblefoot Brewing Company: Another new name for me and another great beer.
CA Dry-Hop Lager by Sudwerk Brewing Co: Very nice stuff.

The pupil is a fantastic IPA. fannnnnnntastical
Drinking an Alesmith Speedway as I type. Always a nice baseline for coffee stouts.
Trying to decide if I want to pull the trigger on some bottles I haven’t seen. Logsdon Fresh Hop Seizon on the shelves here for $15.99. Scott - am at Malt & Vine in Redmond. We need to drink together one of these days, just not at Fremont
Your eyes are not deceiving you. This is the real deal in the original packaging Alpine Pure Hoppiness showing the original provinance. I must admit they are mixing things up just a little bit lately and this one truly shocked me. Bottled Monday, this just reminds me how amazing this original recipe is, so dank and juicy, like pot covered grapefruit. Stocked up to say the least. Get em’ while they last all you OG Alpine lovers.
Cheers,
Bud
Never thought I’d see this bottle again, my intuition says that if and when they bottle Nelson again it will be the original recipe as a seasonal special like this PH release.
Cheers,
Bud
Told you I was confused with the Alpine packaging; I’ve seen that label and embossing up here, as well.
Didn’t realize pFriem was bottling Double IPA, as well. I think I’m going to grab a couple to try at home.
Andrew, these original bottles have no embossing on them and are a different shape from the new GF/Alpine bottles.
Cheers,
Bud
I want the OG Nelson!!
Don’t we all ! I think you’ll see it as one of the new seasonal throwbacks like this Pure Hoppiness, original recipe in original packaging from Alpine. From my take after talking with them yesterday its apparent that there is not enough Nelson hops to brew on a regular basis any longer so when they do get them they probably will make the smaller Alpine brewed batch and do a brewery only release.
Cheers,
Bud
I’ve always drank the Fresh Hop Seizoen within a month or so after release. If it were a fresh hop pale ale or IPA I would not buy/drink more than a few weeks post-release. Not sure what to say about the Seizoen, but would be an interesting experiment. Let me know if you buy/drink.
I’m up for drinking, but definitely not at Fremont. I’m always up for visiting Holy Mountain or I’ve got a ton of bottles that I could use help with.
Turned out to be pretty good. I’ve tried a ton of the variations on their seizoen, so this was an interesting change-up. Bottle says it’s “Good until 10/2016.”
I don’t think I’d pay $16 for it again, but farmhouse ales have never really been my thing.
I hope they do!
had a pour of Modern Times - Floating World IPA yesterday. Thought it was low-level excellent. It was completely shown-up by the next beer I ordered, the Three Weavers - Expatriate IPA. Tons of citrusy goodness!
I’ve had the Expatriate a few times, and there’s been some significant variation. The pour I had yesterday reminded me of the first time I had it — very excellent. All other times it has merely been “very good.”
I’ve had the expatriate a couple of times, i could never seem to finish the whole pint. It gets too… zesty for me. Almost a bit too aggressive. Something about 3 weavers, everything has too much bite for me

That Floating World could be getting long in the tooth because when fresh it rivals pretty much any IPA being made,I have yet to be won over by 3Ws, non remarkable on everything I’ve tried to date which includes Expatriate, Stateside and Blood Junkie, actually the one that showed some creativity was Blood Junkie but it got hot really fast. Ex Pat seemed very one dimensional when we had it,could it be batch variation like you mention ? it just had lots of citrus zest and not much more. Stateside fell into my" there is no such thing as a great session IPA " category.
