I was thinking that the appropriate wine to open was “The Prisoner” but search as I might, I couldn’t find a single bottle of it in my cellar.
Celebrating it tonight with my wine group, which is comprised of all cyclists and one hairy Berserker, MarcF.
Tonight is Chateau Pavie night and Tour de France.
Tomorrow is pain.
Zinfandel.
Champagne and lots of it…
Champagne and a lot of other things but only because July 14 is my birthday.
We have a Paulee lunch with the Chevaliers du Tastevin in PR. Always a fun afternoon and a painful evening…
Going to a wine dinner at St. Jacques French Cuisine in Raleigh where we will have an excellent meal and sing the “Marseillaise.” The owner is a native of Provence and he brings in entertainment for the dinner. This year’s menu includes pork and veal pate’ en croute, vichysoisses, goat cheese grantinee on a crostini with spinach salad, palate refresher of lemon and thyme sorbet, coq au vin, and dessert crepe with chocolate sorbet. Wines are secondary–a French Chardonnay and a French Cabernet Sauvignon. I may think about taking a red Burgundy and pay corkage to have it with the pate’ course and coq au vin and share with others sitting at my table. However, with a large group wine dinner, perhaps it would be unseemly to bring a bottle. What do you think?
Water !!
MY Ancestors LOST Their Heads !
If you hide it you won’t have to share
We’ll certainly dig up a French bottle or two here.
and maybe a Zin so Mike D doesn’t have to drink alone.
Versed and Propofol. Vive la France!
Riesling (smaradg or gg)/ montevertine - vive Le difference !!
2008 Huet Clos du Bourg sec- honey, lanolin, some herbaceous notes: pleasantly bitter, slightly astringent finish. Great balance between the vivid fruit material and acidity, better than my last bottle.
Opened a few 2011 red burgs. Clearly not the finest vintage of the various Republics.
'99 Docquet BdB RD. Pretty tasty…
2012 Lapierre Morgon with fresh salmon.
The 2011 Domaine de Prion Fleurie Vieilles Vignes. Really nice. Went well with running a Dungeons and Dragons game.
We opened a NV Champagne Giraud BdB and a 2004 Roumier Corton Charlemagne on Bastille Day, as well as a NV Sauvignon Blanc from Long Island (quite good), some Sherries and a few other things that got lost in the shuffle.
I went with the 2011 Ch. Guiraud.
