What are the coolest places to goto in Napa, eat or drink.

List your favorites! Shortlist! This should be fun!
Atlas Peak

My favorite for pig parts is TheFattedCalf at OxBow Market in Napa. Lots of interesting stuff.
My favorite restaurant is Oneotria in Napa. Fabulous pizza and other Italian fare.
Terrific/interesting wine list put together by SurLucero.
And Margaux’s Enoteca up in Calistoga is always a must stop for interesting wines.
And…since I’m the epitome of “cool”…these must be pretty cool places!!! [snort.gif]
Tom

Will Segui’s house when Johnny Market was there one night. Plenty cool for me.

I did cook a Flannery Rib Cap and dry packed scallops.

Tra Vigne, local avoid like the plague. Tom Hill’s list is good.

Don’t know if they’re the coolest (is that like trendiest?) but this is where I usually wind up.

Lunch: Gott’s/Taylor’s Refresher, Buster’s BBQ, Rutherford Grill
Dinner: Rutherford Grill, Silverado Brewing Co.
Winetasting: Schramsberg, Storybook Mtn.

Stay: Poetry Inn

Eat: Bistro Jeanty or picnic at Pride

Taste: Pride, Shafer, Outpost, Anderson’s Conn Valley with the Todd

The coolest place to go in Napa is
Let me Google that for you

Their Habanero bbq sauce is the best bbq sauce ever.

That’s what I was going to say. [highfive.gif]

Tra Vigne: Their fresh mozarella appetizer is probably my favorite single dish of any type of food on Earth.
Ubuntu: They dipped a bit after their original chef left, but have returned to stunning form.
French Laundry: Duh. Make it there once in a lifetime at least.

Harvest Inn in St. Helena is a really charming place to stay. To find better you need to jump to the $1000 a night class. This region is probably the most overpriced place on Earth to stay. Think midweek and off-season.

fixed.

Gott’s/Tyler’s Refresher is so fun, and has great food.
Oakville Grocer for sandwiches and picnic goods.
Terra for dinner over Tra Vigne every day of the week, and it’s sort of hidden and out of view, which is a nice reprieve from the bustle.
Pride’s tour and tasting is really neat, right at the top of Spring Mountain.
Joseph Phelp’s Le Nez du Vin Challenge tasting is really, really, really fun.
Schramsberg’s cave tasting is incredibly impressive, and a change of pace from pounding cabs

Lunch/Picnic: Oakville Grocery - take it up to Pride Mtn Vnyd picnic bench on top of Spring Mtn
V.Sattui - incredible market -nice picnic grounds
Calmart in Calistoga - great picnic supplies, cheeses, salads etc.

Dinner - Auberge du Soleil - great view, dinner, experience!
Tra Vigne - nice place, good food
NVWC - what can I say, great folks - just bring in food, relax and enjoy with Randy, Carrie and others…

The Kitchen Door in the Oxbow Market does some pretty magical things with mushrooms.
And BYO is just fine.
Best, Jim

my 2 cents:
Delicious Food, Bistro Don Giovanni

Thanks to you both and Harris. Appreciate it, we love seeing you all flirtysmile

Sunset drinks on the deck at Auberge du Soleil.

I have to wonder if it was asparagus you saw. When young asparagus spears are not cut, the buds open (called “ferning out”) and produce lacy, multi-branched, fern-like foliage. Most varieties grow to a height of about four feet; five to five and one-half feet is the tallest I have ever seen. They look like fennel tops, not like bamboo canes; asparagus foliage is quite distinct from bamboo foliage.

Lunch at Celadon in downtown Napa was perhaps the best meal I’ve enjoyed in the region. But maybe it was the fact that I was soaked from the bottle of Cedric Bouchard Inflorescence that sploded on me after the one hour car journey. [bow.gif]

Decadent stuff, that fresh mozzarella. Just had it Thursday night. The pork chop I ordered was okay, but the short ribs looked good and garnered compliments from a couple at the table.
