I have a friend there who has asked. Someone who likes wine but is not at all into wine and who does not know the slightest thing about wine.
If Grapes and Grain still exists in Mequon, just outside Milwaukee, they would be the choice. If not, then Ray’s Wine & Spirits in downtown.
Waterford Wine Co. on Brady St. Great for geeks and beginners.
Grapes & Grain has been gone for several years now.
Ray’s has a lot of good wine, but they also have a lot of bad wine. The emphasis seem to just be a having a lot of wine. It’s also located in Wauwatosa, the first suburb west of Milwaukee.
Thats what happens when you have been gone for 7 years, you lose track. I liked G&G, use to have some really nice harder to get wines.
Going to be in Milwaukee next week, taking a Viking cruise of the Great Lakes. Any stores in town recommended to pick up a few bottles to bring on board? Trying to void packing wine for this trip.
Waterford remains the best show in town. Ray’s in Wauwatosa has arguably better selection but the prices are mediocre to outright laughable (the last time I was there they had 2019 Cantemerle for $75!). Also I’m guessing you’ll be closer to downtown for the cruise, so Waterford should be more convenient.
another Waterford vote.
Thanks, Brian was very helpful at Waterford. Arranged for them to drop off at our hotel on Wednesday too
