Two of my favorite restaurants in the region informally have very generous BYOB policies- zero charge if you also buy a bottle from the list and zero corkage if you don’t but your bottle is “interesting” and you give the bar manager or somm a slug.
This is particularly good for me since I love FLX and Niagara Escarpment wines, but seemingly all the restaurants in the region have lists that pretty much ignore the local wines (“A vineyard is not without honor, but in its own country, and among its own kin, and in its own house”).
Did I mention that pizza cooked in a wood-burning oven is a great match for FLX Cabernet Franc?
