Westborn Wine - New California Sparkling Project

Ran through all of the Westborn wines with a few sneak peeks at what’s to come (2019 Blanc de Blancs being one of them!)

Weston is a wine enthusiast and lover of wine, so he loves to find time to deep dive on wines and just hang out. Like was mentioned, just reach out and if schedules align, it’s worth a meet up at Brasswood (oysters and Westborn Blanc de Blancs, Brasswood’s famous mozzarella with Westborn Perpetual Reserve…it’s all dangerous!)

Thanks Berserkers, I don’t “need” any more wine but I was happy to find this thread and take a chance on this label. I snagged a 3 pack from saratogawine. Thanks @Chris_Crutchfield

Was really impressed with the Perpetual Reserve.
Immediately signed up, got an offer. The early release price and $5/bottle flat ground shipping is greatly appreciated @WestonE and bought more Reserve and the 18 Brut. :raised_hands:

Looking forward to the BdB and Rose offerings.

My three arrived a few days ago, fomo gor me and I have a feeling I will like the profile

Just got an email that the 2019 Blanc de Blancs will be available to purchase on Tuesday, February 24th. The email included this description:

“The 2019 Blanc de Blancs is made from 100% Chardonnay with 6 months in barrel and 64 months in bottle on lees. The dosage is 5 g/l. It needs a little shaking to wake up delicate scents of fresh yellow apples, grapefruit, and Bosc pears, leading to notes of sea spray, lime blossoms, and lemongrass. The palate is light on its feet and energetic, coming off very dry and crisp with loads of minerals, finishing with great persistence and very fine bubbles. Impressive!"

$125 for all in, early access pricing is definitely champagne territory.

I was actually able to recently try the new 2019 BdB. After reading LPB’s review, my experience showed a more open and giving profile. With over 5yrs on lees, the texture + ripe fruit really has this showing well.

As an aside, the bottle I had was presented blind. I didn’t know what it was but my first comment was “whatever the dosage is, it seems on point. One more would make it too much and one less would make it too little. Goldilocks.”

Yep. No brainer.

Between this and Haliotide my credit card is tired  Excited to open one soon.

I know you’ll say I committed infanticide but I opened the 2018 Brut tonight. Holy crap this is good.

Undoubtedly the most open knit of their wines at the moment. So much good richness while retaining a California nod. Love that they held the 2018 back and released the 2019 before (they being said, the 2019 has soared to life the last 6-8 months). Fun side by side.

I’m just a peon but best domestic bubbles I’ve ever had.

It better be at that price point.

Maybe but it’s not crazy higher than some of the other stuff out there hyped here. It’s better than the best ultramarine I’ve had before the shenanigans.
