Think of the good news. Increases the likelihood that the harvest gets done prior to the end of the fire season.

yes, that is correct.
yes, earlier harvest helps with potential fire exposure. Lots of work to do managing green fruit, though.

My wife showed me an Instagram post of someone down in central CA sampling Pinot today. 20.4 Brix in June?! At least they will get Labor Day off this year.

Estate or Sunchase?
That’s nuts I was scanning an old vine Zinfandel vineyard pulling onto a property on Friday and I couldn’t even see any clusters hanging.
Our Estate Hillside Block. I have to get over to the other side of the creek later this week to see how the other blocks look. I actually thought I saw change happening last week but it was in passing on my ATV and I said “no way” and moved on. I guess Mother Nature loves to keep us on our toes.

It’s been cooler than average this year and with much less rain in Jan and Feb. I am not really sure how we are so far ahead but Napa is definitely 3 weeks ahead.

Went out to mow the “other side”. More than 50% through, which kicked my brain into gear to get on my innovint fruit intake orders 
Small PN clusters and berries this year in our vineyard. I thought we were going to be heavy but the vines seem to have regulated that for us. Some shatter in Chardonnay.
What are you all seeing?
I’ve heard anecdotal reports of some Pinot hitting 20 Brix before July down in Santa Barbara County

We picked pinot noir for verjus this morning on Laguna Road in RRV. It is 27 days earlier than we picked it last year!
