Does Bistro Provence allow BYOB? @Howard_Cooper
Yes, but I think corkage is around $50. Last time I went (for our anniversary), I brought a 2001 Truchot GC Combottes. Remember the food AND wine really well. Fuzzier about the corkage.
Went to Jont today for dinner.
Little torn about it. On one hand, it was an excellent meal.
On the other hand. It was $800.

Pirouette was a nice recommendation - thanks! I was in NoVa last night with my wife and wanted a light meal. Things have slowed down for them and 3 weeks ago they moved from a full menu to small plates along with a pretty legit charcuterie and (for NoVa) cheese course. We went with an assortment of small plates. All well-executed and enjoyable, with a standout being a roasted squash with goat cheese and pecans that was excellent. Agree that the producers are under-the-radar, but certainly thoughtfully chosen and reasonably-priced. They also have a pretty good half-bottle list for a place their size. We went with a 1/2 of a Bzikot Bourgogne Côte d’Or Blanc which was perfect. No corkage. Not fine-dining, but I would happily return and is a great ‘neighborhood’ restaurant. Don’t miss the dark chocolate budino, topped with toasted pistachios, sea salt and a little olive oil.
Ah, great to hear @Jason_R! I’m glad someone followed up on that post, lol.
Even though I live 5 hours away now I keep on their email list just because I like to know what they’re up to, and so I saw about that switch to small plates and was curious what that would look like. I knew if anyone could execute it well it would be them, so I’m glad they lived up to it. Those Bzikot wines are always a delightful little surprise, the Aligoté is quite good. I agree though, in my mind it’s the perfect neighborhood restaurant. Only problem is I don’t live in the neighborhood anymore.
Anyway, glad you enjoyed!
Went to Omakase @ Barracks row over the weekend and the food was outstanding, some highlights were halibut fin, mackrel, and fried softshell crab. The beverage director was much more toned down this time around too and more scripted which was a relief. He apologized for not having burgundy glasses, so they’re aware of it, but still odd that they don’t have not-chilled stemware. Maybe not the number one choice if you want to nerd out about wine pairings with sushi, but well worth the price of admission.
