Vosges "Mo's Bacon Bar"!

45% Cacao, applewood smoked bacon, alderwood smoked salt. Just yum-O! Perfectly balanced with a mouth-filling essence of chocolate and yummy bacon. A long, smooth aftertaste. 93 points.

I love all their products. Fortunate to live about 3 blocks from their Armitage store, which also sells and pairs Copain wines with their chocolate.

Funny, up until last October I was right around the block from that store.

I also liked their chipotle chocolate ice cream

Bob, the Vosges website says the bacon bar is available in 41% milk chocolate or 62% dark chocolate. Which did you have?

The one that says 45% Cacao on the front of the box . . . the box I just now looked at again.

OK. Milk or dark?

Milk.

To preface, I love bacon and I like, not love, sweets. I had this bar about a year ago and I was not impressed. I never got the whole chocolate bacon craze. Bacon in maple syrup, yes. Bacon and chocolate, I tend to stay away. However, I do agree Vosges produces excellent artisanal chocolates. Vosges’ entire Italian line of truffles is pure decadence, not to mention the Budapest and Black Pearl. I also recommend Jomart Chocolates and NuNu Chocolates in Brooklyn, NY. Jomart is a more traditional chocolatier with a solid all around product. I have not tried NuNu but I have read good reviews. Both are family owned small operations.

What does “artisanal” mean in this context?
