Looking at buying a used Eurocave D Beverage L. I haven’t contacted the seller yet to do my due diligence. My question to you all is it worth buying a Eurocave used or just getting one from a different manufacturer brand new?
I see that eurocaves are great and the standard by many, but can be tedious to fix when they do happen to break.
I’ve owned two Eurocaves: 1 for 15 years, the other for over 20 years. Both still going strong. Never any problems. Both have been subject to a relocation.
Had two non-Eurocaves break and end up cooking some wines.
So I’m definitely a fan of Eurocave. Though there are several brands that are nearly the same quality.
One note: Eurocave changed the Compact version, so the shelves and accessories that went with the old Compact verison will no longer work with the new style. In france, they have been doing a fire sale of the old style shelves (I picked up a few because I wanted to move to sliding shelving). But I doubt they will continue to carry the old style in favor of the new style. As far as I am aware, this is limited to the Compact Eurocaves. So if you are buying used, and it is a Compact, it would be good to know if it is the new or old style and stock up on the shelving that you think you will need, including spares if required.
Hi Kevin. I purchased a Eurocave Royale in 2020, and I love it. Never had a problem with it. I am hoping I have it for many, many more years without problems too!
I would say that price & age are a factor in the decision to buy a used Eurocave. If the unit is less than 10 years old, and less than half price…I would be inclined to buy the used Eurocave. I have a friend that bought a 30+ year old Eurocave that is still working fine. He got it for $100 and is VERY pleased with his decision to buy it. Used Eurocaves can be great deals, if the owner is willing to sell it for a reasonable price. In my opinion 10 years or younger should be about half price, while 10-20 years should be 1/3 original price, and 20+ years should be $500 or less (for large units). This is just my $0.02 and might be worth about that if you encounter problems later on. My hope is that this is helpful, it may only complicate the decision process.
Just another vote to say yes to Eurocave. I had an Oxygene for several years before I had to sell it on due to relocation. The new owner continues to be very happy with it.
