Are there retailers in the US that specialize in Spanish wines? Looking for two particular producers, and have done the Wine Searcher thing, but really not finding much. Thought someone might know one of those “below the radar” shops that have a good Spanish selection.
I agree. I don’t remember what happened between them and Jorge but when I visited in ('05?) everything seemed fine. Generally like their wines. Think I still have a '98 or something hanging out in the cellar.
David - Veleta is Nola in Ohio. That wine isn’t sold in NY or too many other states, unfortunately. So places like the NY stores aren’t going to have it. If you like the Val Llach, the same winemaker does Cims de Porerra, which you should probably look for.
At one point PJs was focused on Spanish wine more than any other retailer. That’s less so since Februrary.
Thanks for seeking us out. I have 2 distributors in IL that should be able to get the wines to you. However neither one is doing much to distribute Veleta. George Molitor of Fine Vines has stock of our wines Joe DiMaggio of Abbruzzi has some Tempranillo. Perhaps Larry Kaplan of The Wine Cellar may have some luck asking either one of these two distributors to get some Veleta for you.
Juan and I are planning on heading up to Chicago some time in November, as soon as I know when, I will post it and maybe we could meet up then or do an offline.
Apart from IL. we are as Greg mentioned widely available in Ohio, I have distribution in Texas and in Denver. We are in the process of getting distribution with Dionysos in VA, MD and DC. There are several places in DC, Georgetown that have Veleta now, including the restaurant Bodega and Potomac Wine and Spirits. I am still working on trying to find distribution in NY and everywhere else.
If all that fails, please send me a PM and I will try to figure out something.
