Umbria recommendations

My wife and I are traveling to Umbria at the end of September. Looking for recommendations on family style wineries with atmosphere, places to stay, restaurants (<=$100 for each of us) and generally culinary and local experiences.

Thank you

Try to make it to Orvieto. You will not be dissapointed. There’s a good wine shop and some pretty great restaurants on top of that mountain.

I stayed here. Very good value and centrally located by on of the best pork shops up there.

Stayed here multiple times in Bevagna overlooking vineyards. https://geniuslociumbria.it/ It’s in a good location to visit other towns if you have a car. Some good restaurants in Montefalco. I know a great truffle hunting experience. Hunt for truffles in the morning. Havre some over eggs out in the fields. Then go back to their farmhouse for lunch and more truffles. End of September may only be black truffles at that time but so fresh, it’s still great. Ping me if you’re interested and I’ll find the details.

One of the best meals I had was at a small agritourismo near Arnaldo Caprai in Montefalco - booked lunch for our group of 12 and dined under the arbor. Possibly the best eggplant Parmesan I e ever had. https://www.camianopiccolo.com/?lang=en

Near Tuoro di Trasimeno - Osteria dell’Accademia del Tuoro
Near Cortona train station - Enoteca Meucci | Restaurant and wine shop in Borgo Riccio, Cortona

@VadimG In Montefalco we enjoyed Enoteca L’Alchimista multiple times. Its on the main square and has a local following. In the same area Scacciadiavoli, Fratelli Pardi and Paolo Bea are all standouts.

Ovieto area we like Palazzone & Barberani

If you’re in Bevagna and you like rustic places serving really good meat, the Scottadito is fantastic.
