My wife and I are in Napa this weekend. We have a driver for both days we’re driving around, but I’m wondering if anyone has experience with taking an Uber to and from. My only concern is that we’re heading up there after a late dinner on Thursday. Just worried about coverage and drivers willing to drive to the town of Napa around that time.
This is slight thread drift, but in Napa this past weekend we used the new service bemydd (app on the Apple and Android store). You arrange for a driver to come meet you, and then drive your vehicle. The rate is 17.95 per hour. I thought it was a great service, and used it all three days. The driver even ran to Santa Rosa to pick up a prescription that I had forgotten to bring, while we were in tasting.
it is not uncommonThat we take Uber from San Francisco to our home in Marin County. This is about one third of the way to Napa and it can be $70. Going to the wine country by Uber might be quite expensive. I had never heard of bemydd it sounds like a very interesting consult.
Just gotta find the right uber driver. what i’d do is when they match with you, you call them and let them know you’re going to downtown Napa. Some aren’t planning on a 3 hour detour and might be ending their shift. Some would be happy to make that money. Uberx estimate is $99-128 each way. If you’re just going for the weekend, probably cheaper to just rent a car at the airport and leave it at your hotel.
Chris - I think they are in a number of markets across the country but not sure how many. For me, having to get myself to the wine country from the airport, it made all the sense in the world since I needed a car to get there and get around when we weren’t wine tasting (read drinking).
