Last weekend, I had the honor of co-leading a masterclass for 30 of Europe’s top sommeliers during their visit to the Central Coast, organized by the California Wine Institute. We focused not only on Tyler, but also on wines from fellow producers working with one or more of the four varietals that truly define the Santa Barbara region: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The feedback was outstanding. For a group that regularly tastes and competes in some of the world’s most serious wine competitions, the impression these wines made was incredibly encouraging.
