Tyler Winery BD16: Rare Bottlings, 15% Off, and a Brand-New Cabernet Label!

Let’s go, BerserkerDay 16! :tada:

Since our first BerserkerDay a couple years ago, I’ve been grateful to continue to connect with fellow Berserkers, and I can’t overstate how much your support has meant. The enthusiasm of wine die-hards like yourselves have been instrumental in fueling our continued growth at Tyler—most recently with the opening of our wine bar and tasting room in downtown Santa Barbara six months ago.

Before COVID, we were almost entirely a wholesale-focused winery, with just a small tasting bar setup in our Lompoc cellar, these direct to consumer interactions accounted for only a single-digit percentage of our sales. Fast forward to today, we’ve expanded significantly, developing our Mae Estate vineyard house program in the Sta. Rita Hills, launching our dedicated wine bar in downtown Santa Barbara, and growing our mailing list and membership like never before; all while remaining independently owned and operated. We’re thrilled to celebrate our 20th vintage this fall!

THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us over the years—your enthusiasm not only fuels Tyler’s growth but has also shaped my own journey. In just a few months, I’ll be celebrating 10 years with Tyler, 16 in Sta. Rita Hills wine, and I couldn’t be more grateful! (more about myself.)

For BD16, we’re offering a selection of 2022 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, a vintage that delivered expressive, juicy reds and beautifully textured whites with vibrancy, balance, and impressive age ability. We also have an offer for the inaugural release of our brand new cabernet label, launched just a couple months ago!

Many of these wines are typically reserved for our Favored Allocation Members or guests at Mae Estate Vineyard House and never hit retail or distribution (marked with a :gem:). The remaining wines, though slightly more accessible, are still small-production bottlings (100-250 cases) that land in only a handful of restaurants and retailers.

ABOUT TYLER
Tyler was founded by Santa Barbara native, Justin Tyler Willett, at 24 years old in 2005. Tyler’s first vintage was made up of a few barrels of Pinot Noir, stashed in the cellar Justin was working at during that time. The following vintage, Justin introduced Chardonnay to the lineup. He has continued to focus on producing high-quality, classically styled wines, with a deliberate focus on freshness, balance, and a sense of place and time. Over the years, the reputation of Justin’s winemaking, and quality of his Tyler wines, has launched Tyler into an international brand. Nearly 50% of our total production is now being sold across Europe alone, as collectors and savvy buyers look for a worthy alternative to some of the world’s classic regions.

The development of what is now our Mae Estate Vineyard, acquisition of the Fiddlestix Vineyard, past partnerships with Etienne de Montille of Domaine de Montille, and Rodolphe Peters of Pierre Peters, and numerous accolades and press, are all humbling affirmations of the quality and success of Justin Willett’s efforts.

Thanks Michael!

I’ve added a few more Pinot 3-packs to be available today, as we sold through 8 of the 12(!) in the pre-release yesterday, thank you to those who jumped on them!

Bentrock Vineyard Pinot Noir and Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir are :yum:

Had people blind them as burgundy, one of my favorite blinds to give

Totally agree! Bentrock and S&B have that mineral, chalky structure but with enough savory red fruit to remind you it’s California (or Burgundy on a great year—kidding, but not really!). I actually opened a 2014 Bentrock the other night at our wine bar in anticipation of today’s offer. A client came in for dinner with his die-hard Burgundy buddy, and we had a playful debate about California Pinot’s ageability (given there is a lot of variance). I said, ‘Let me pour you something,’ and poured the ‘14…he was convinced it was Burgundy. Love moments like that for this region!

Only 3 Pinot packs remaining!

Order in. Excited to try the wines. Cheers

Thanks Scott, glad to get you reconnected!

The Pinot pack is SOLD OUT!

About 15 years ago when I’d recently moved to the US, I schlepped a few of these and Bedrock back to Sweden to show people just how good American wine can be. Everyone was hugely impressed. :+1:

Amazing, and now Sweden is one of our top export markets!

Yep, I see them there when I go back! It’s a big market for me as well. Scandinavian monopoly system I’m against on a fundamental level, but the good thing about it is that it focuses interest. Once the importers release, people really buy a lot and are really invested and that’s great fun!

Happy to say I got one of the pinot packs :grinning:
