I picked up a 4-bottle Turley package at a recent charity auction. These were donated directly from the winery (kudos to them!) and include the following:
2008 Contra Costa County Salvador Zin
2005 Duarte Zin
2005 Estate Zin
2005 Tofanelli Charbono
So, for those Turley cognoscenti, how are these drinking right now? Drink up, hold off, what is your opinion of this assortment?
Despite recently having had a 97 black sears that was very very good, I like them on the young side and already drank most of my 05s. I think I have mostly 08s and on left of the zins. I did not buy the contra costa so I cant help you there. Id pop one of the 05s and see what you think
I bet that Charbono is starting to taste pretty delicious. You could email the winery.
Not the Turley version, but I recently opened a 2004 Tofanelli Tofanelli Vyd. Charbono and it was drinking very well. Enjoy!
I tend to drink most Turleys within 5 years of the vintage, but they had a couple '05s open at the last pickup party and they were both really good. The Duarte is one of the best aging Turley Zins so congrats and enjoy!
