2009 Podere Salicutti Brunello di Montalcino Tre Vigne - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (4/14/2020)
Ripe red fruits on the palate - this was a hot year in Brunello, and in my experience the wines are already showing signs of maturity - a vintage for current drinking while your 10’s and 06’s round into shape.
The nose is brooding, a mix of earthy red & black fruit. Very likable tonight, but less than stellar.

2011 Azienda Agricola San Giuseppe Brunello di Montalcino Stella di Campalto Riserva Benedetta - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (4/14/2020)
Wow, gorgeous nose here! A laser beam of red fruits emanating from the glass.
Better on the nose than the palate, although tonight I definitely prefer this to the Salicutti. Elegant and medium-bodied, good persistence and acidity.
For reasons that I’ve never fully understood, 2011 remains the only vintage where Stella named bottlings after her daughters - perhaps it was a birth year/day wine of some sort?
