I’ve heard that there is an enormous US contingent heading to the Tastevin dinner at the Clos Vougeot on the 10th? The first time they’ve ever done a whole dinner in English.
Beware of the invasion in the region. Plan ahead, whoever’s there…I was there once during such a Dutch/American week…and…lots of noise and traffic at various places.
That plus Becky Wasserman’s shindig to celebrate 35 years of her company. I was told around 500 folks have been invited to that.
Those are the reasons why I nailed down my dinner reservations and accommodations back in January.
How did you know about all of this “back in January”?
I’d guess it would affect visits to producers, too…??
A close friend is ITB. He’s very dialed into Burgundy, has made 40+ ITB visits there since 1981. He knew about the Wasserman thing then. Another friend told me a short time later about the Tastevin dinner as he’s a member of that group.
You are fortunate to have the heads up…even if it might not be the best time to choose to visit.
Bon voyage!
I think we’ll be fine. We already have appts. at Roche de Bellene (VIP), Bouchard (VIP), Dom. des Lambrays, Heresztyn, Confuron-Cotetidot (90% confirmed) and Mugneret-Gibourg. A couple of more appts. are in the works.
Dinner reservations at Caves Madeleine, Bistro de L’Hotel, and Ma Cuisine.
On two of those days, we’ll be taking day trips to the Jura (on Sat. 5/10) and Chablis on 5/12.
I’m a planner. I don’t f&ck around.
I am going to becky’s party. Not the tastevin event. Got a “save the date” notice in august or september.
