Release email came today. Very quiet on the board. Any news or notes?
Here is part of the email from the release:
As most of you know I’d be happy to tell you what I think of the wines, but let’s face it I’m a bit biased. So instead, I’ve included the recent reviews from James Laube at Wine Spectator.
2008 Torrin “The Maven” 96 pts - A wine of amazing finesse and refinement, with a gorgeous purity of ripe dark fruit, showing complex plum, crème de cassis, wild berry, blackberry, blueberry, spice and black licorice notes. Full-bodied, elegant and graceful, this is seamless in texture, ending with a long, focused, detailed finish. No wonder it’s so delicious. This uses Grenache from Saxum’s James Berry Vineyard. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2021. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 98 cases made. –JL
2008 Torrin “Akasha” 96 pts - Amazing richness, depth and purity of flavors unfold to reveal tiers of mocha-laced blackberry, black licorice and blueberry muffin. This is dazzling for its elegance and finesse, ending with a sharply defined and incredible mix of delicacy and detail. Syrah. Drink now through 2021. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 96 cases made. –JL
2008 Torrin “The Banshee” 95 pts - Amazingly smooth and polished, gushing with ripe blackberry, berry jam, crème de cassis and black licorice flavors, with dashes of menthol and road tar and hints of dried herbs. Full-bodied, intense, focused and deeply concentrated, with a modest tannic grip on the finish. Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2021. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 94 cases made. –JL
Thank you once again for all of your support and your patience in anticipation of the new releases
Looking forward to tasting these at an upcoming tasting.
Anyone know retail pricing?
Cheers!
$60 per bottle. Only 290 cases combined between their three releases.
It looks like a lot of '07’s are around release price on W-S.
Signed up yesterday and actually got a small allocation. Really looking forward to trying these.
Huh. I signed up several weeks ago when I first got wind of them. Not that I expected an allocation, but this makes me ![scratch [scratch.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/4/42a16863a8714da3c1604419e3eb9206bb87aa50.gif)
Check the website and see if you can log in. Any luck?
That’s exactly what I did as soon as I read Chris’s post. I can log in, whereupon I’m told:
"Welcome! You have made it into the Torrin allocation system. Once again our production for 2008 was ridiculously small, 290 cases for the vintage. As our loyal supporters you are receiving this notification first. . . .
You currently have no wine allocations."
Boo! But it’s probably for the best as I’ve done some damage over the past few weeks as it is.

I’d say if you’re interested, just contact the winery. Always the best idea and can’t hurt.
I tried all of them a couple of months ago at the winery and they are all outstanding! The $60 seems steep, but they were well worth it.
Chris
Glad to hear that as I put in for 3 of each.
FWIW, I received an email this morning with an allocation. I hadn’t inquired about it, so perhaps they’re staging the release.
Wow. Only took a little over two hours to sell out the remaining bottles. I guess I shouldn’t have wavered so much before trying to pull the trigger.
My kind of wines, I bought what they offered me…
Glad I was in the first offering. Was offered 2/2/2, so I’m guessing the wishlist will probably NOT be fulfilled. That’s okay. WIth only 290ish cases of total wine, there just isn’t much to go around.
Paso is killing it.
Great and ironic article on this months WS…suddenly syrah and grenache are the next big thing…wasnt syrah dead 6 months ago?
Oh and Manfred is suddenly WS’s darling too? Going after the post Parker market???
I missed this too because I didn’t pull the trigger yesterday. I’m hoping to maybe find one to try somewhere. I’ve bought so many wines that I’ve never had I’m running out of money for new ones. I really have to narrow them down or get another job!
I hear you about buying wines you havent tried…and the problem is I havent stopped buying the ones Ive already tried either! And Im out of space. Something’s gotta give. Hopefuly not my liver.
I located 2 bottles of the 2007 Akasha at a store in OC. Has anyone had the 2007? Obviously the 2008s got great scores but I can’t find any reviews on the 2007s.
