Highlights for me so far…

1969 Leroy Montrachet:
Opened very slowly, kind of creeping up on you, then…Wow. Quite rich, and only a touch darker than the first wine. So very long and wide on the palate, an expansive sort of wine…and one that really could only really be Montrachet when you thought about it. I kept some in the glass until the end, and this was even better then, probably creeping up a point or so more. In fabulous condition for it’s age. This will hold for another 10 years, I would have thought, and maybe drink longer still…They just don’t make’em like they used to…Close to WOTN. Superb
95/6pts.

1961 DRC La Tache:
Wow. Classic old La Tache. Beautiful perfumed spice rose petal nose, beautifully sweet and elegant, yet sexy at the same time. Fine and lacy in the mouth, a haunting wine of sheer enjoyment. Superb, and the wine of the day so far. A pleasure to drink, and just kept going and opening in the glass over time. Unanimously in first place amongst the group as well so far. A somewhat similar, and nearly as great wine as the fabulous '71 we had last year.
96pts

1969 Faiveley Musigny:
This was fantastic, everything a great older Burgundy should be. A core of lovely sweet fruit, earthy, spice meaty, interesting and just so complex. As Jeremy said, complete…

2006 Faiveley Musigny:
This showed the best of the young wines on the night, as the '06’s often do. So silky, elegant yet with substantial depth and power. Just an amazing wine, and a joy to drink. I thought this was an '02, it has so much juicy dark fruit. Really lovely, the essence of Chambolle here. Will improve, but like the very top '06’s, is so good now…
96+pts

1945 Grahams VP:
Classic VP! Deep, ripe, seamless, balanced, layered complex, long and fresh! Absolutely superb and timeless wine of amazing depth, with so much sweet dark liquorice fruit, balanced spirit and an endless finish. Amazing! WOTY for me so far…and in my all time top 10.
97/8pts.

2001 Clos Ste. Hune
1973 Mayacamas Cab
1997 Marcassin Chardonnay Hudson
1994 Haut Brion
1981 Gruaud Larose

If the 07 is anything to go by, you’ll be even more impressed in a few years. Glad to have a small stash squirreled away.

2005 Kistler Chardonnay Cuvee Cathleen
2008 Mayback Cabernet Sauvignon Materium
2008 Myriad Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Crane
