TNs: Three 2020 Louis Claude Desvignes Morgons

  • 2020 Louis Claude Desvignes Morgon Javernières - France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon (1/17/2023)
2020 Louis Claude Desvignes Morgons: Reductive at first. Some tart red fruits, cherries and raspberries with spices, bai hao yinzhen tea leaves, summer savory, and liquorice root. Lively acids, bright mineral tones and fine grained tannins. A spot of VA started to emerge towards the end of the tasting though. My favourite of the wines tasted.

  • 2020 Louis Claude Desvignes Morgon Javernières Les Impenitents - France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon (1/17/2023)
2020 Louis Claude Desvignes Morgons: Very reticent on the nose initially. While there's some red fruits with pomegranate and black cherry, the nose is mostly dominated by its herbal and spice tones with caraway, coriander, cedar, and soil tones. Spicy, almost peppery entry. Very similar to the 2020 Aux Pierres tasted alongside it, but a bit longer and more concentrated. Some hollowness in the mid-palate, and a rather uninspiring short finish leave me wanting something more in this wine. Alcohol feels less obtrusive than the 2019 version of this wine, but still quite noticeable.
