TN's: Rivers-Marie, Merry Edwards and a Dropout

Had a good run this weekend. Love it when everything comes together.

  • 2009 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Old Vines Summa - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (10/12/2014)
Been sitting on this for almost 5 years. That’s like 5 dog years for me. Special birthday dinner Friday so I brought it with us. What a great food wine this is. Nose is savory showing loamy earth, mushrooms, Thyme, pine needles and cedar. The palate is tart raspberry with a whiff of strawberry. A nice citrussy acid lifts the mid-palate and firm tannins round out the long tart finish. Went just as well with Halibut as it did with Filet. Super wine.

  • 2012 Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (10/12/2014)
This ranks as one if my top Sauvignon Blanc experiences. From nose to finish it delivers citrus, melon, fresh flowers, a grassy tang and racy acidity. Vibrant and alive. Tops the Mondavi I Block To Kalons we had earlier in the year. Easy re-purchase.

  • 2013 Dropout Albariño Andrus Island Vineyard - USA, California (10/12/2014)
Nose of lemon, honey, nectarine and white flowers. No nonsense creamy texture comes off slightly flabby but the acid turns on late creating a crisp enjoyable finish. Lean 12.5 abv, fun and refreshing wine.
